Question:

Why Did The McCanns Refuse To Take A Polygraph Test To Prove Their Innocence?

If I was ever accused of anything so heinous as drugging, killing, and disposing of my child's body, and of obstructing the police investigation I would be the first to say strap me in the lie detector machine. So why did the McCanns and their friends refuse?

  1. They did agree to undertake a lie detector test, but then refused after it was found that it would be inadmissible as evidence in a Portuguese court.

  2. to give you something to fill your time with

    "innocent until proven guilty"

youve got it the wrong way around

  3. They have refused to do anything to aid in the investigation. I remember early on in the case an expert tested out video footage of The Mc's with a detector and they failed with flying colours but he done it off his own bat and wasn't part of team McCann of course. (Sorry don't have the link) ANY loving parent would crawl over broken glass for their children not run away and sue the world for daring to doubt them!

  4. I don't know the answer to your question. But i can tell you this.

If my child was missing and i had to sleep with the dregs of society to try and get my child back i would.

If i had to gorge my eyes out,i would. You get my drift?

  5. cos they're guilty.

isnt it weird that they have kept the twins? just because they're doctors they kept them but normal people would've lost them to the social straight away!!!!

  6. if you're put on the spot like that for something so important, you're inevitably going to be nervous and show all sorts of signs of stress and heightened blood pressure, sweating etc. that's why it's not admissable as evidence in court. heck i was watching a documentary on polygraphs and when a really pivotal question was asked, my heart jumped a little.. and I was watching it on tv! imagine what would happen to them?!

  7. The innocent cannot be stopped from talking and wanting to help the police whilst the guilty claim the right to silence.

The law allows us to infer from a persons use of that right but we cannot know for sure.

That said they are unique in being the only parents of a missing child ever to obstruct the police and effectively close the investigation!!

You only ever hear about the parents which surely must be a deliberate ploy to keep the search for Madeleine out of the public concern!!!

  8. When did they refuse? Even so, Polygraph Tests are inadmissable in a court of law.

'ere.. Didn't they say that they WOULD take a lie detector test as soon as they were made Arguido. I think you are suffering a touch of the old Senile Dementia there old boy.

  9. I cant speak for the McCanns, but if I refused I polygraph test, it would be because I had something to hide.

  10. Because, they were afraid of what they would be asked?  Its obvious that they know they are guilty of something.

  11. They didn't want to go to Prison.

Wow shady i didn't see your answer, we're in synch, fancy a game of mallets mallet later?

  12. I am not a pro mcann but this question is daft.

Since when have people ever had tp proove innicence outisde of a court of law.

  13. Doubts over the accuracy of polygraphs mean they cannot currently be used by police in the UK and are not accepted as evidence in the courts.

As the good judge above has said, since when did the law change where someone, not charged with any offence, has to prove their innocence?

  14. They have no need to prove their innocence. It's everyone else who wants proof!

  15. Please provide a link that they were offered a test by the police.  I've not heard of that.  I understood that the Portuguese police don't do polygraphs.

  16. I wouldn't.

Because I wouldn't have faith in the lie detector, and I would be worried about the result being false and me being pilloried forever.

  17. Because they are guilty. Nobody innocent has anything to hide.

  18. I didn't realise polygraph tests were infallible....?

Or are you only interested in the "truth" as you need/want it to be..?

  19. The legal burden of proof states he who asserts must prove. However if you are frustrated and want to prove the DNA of your child then go to Trisha.

  20. ""Why Did The McCanns Refuse To Take A Polygraph Test To Prove Their Innocence?""

Because when they failed, it would only indicate their guilt.
