Why Did you choose "your" specific bike? What were the "driving forces"?

Personally, I chose my bike because it's the top end of honda's line (I'm a dedicated red rider). Ever since i seen the bike back in 2001, I thought it was just gorgeous, and the tech specs were nothing to sneeze at either...

And the price, UNBEATABLE...

You cannot find another bike as fast, as nimble, as comfortable, as pretty, AND as reliable for anywhere near what I paid for mine...

Why did you choose your bike?

  1. looks, color, fat 240 rear tire, and the 125 hp

it almost seems like the bike chose me

  2. i chose my bike because i have looked at several bikes and its the one i've wanted for quite a while. i don't care about going super fast, i fear for my safety if i had the ability to.  its a beautiful bike, fit and finish like no other.  its the last year of the evo motor, which was also the last year of the rigid mount, non counter balanced motor.  the newer ones just seem a little too "civilized" for me.  it feels like i think a motorcycle should feel when you ride it.  its not totally smooth, i feel a lot of wind, etc.  and the blacked out motor just looks badass.

  3. I have a 2005 Ninja 250.  Its my first bike and I'm still learning.  I got it used for $2000 from a private seller.  I'm just getting use to riding but give me a little time then I'll be moving up with the big dogs.

I didn't choose the bike the bike chose me.  My V8 Tundra is eating up a lot of gas.

  4. Well magz, this last bike we purchased is one of your favorites, its a 2008 FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic. Yes, its a cruiser, but thats ok. We need a cruiser. The other bike is not a cruiser. I like riding on the back. Its real comfortable. I can even text on the freeway.(HeeHee). i love texting. About 3000 or so a month. We got it about 3 weeks ago. Next one i get will be another one of your favorites: A sporty. (HaHaHa) Maybe even in your favorite color: RED.

  5. searched all over the place, it's the only black harley I could find....lol.

Actually, I wanted another big bike to replace a road king that I had.  I love the way the FLH's go down the road.  IMO, they can't be beat for overall comfort, style and looks.

  6. >>>  Personally, I chose my bike because ...

Something told me you weren't really interested in what we thought.

    Good Luck....

  7. Honda's Gold Wing is unique, basically a 2 wheeled Buick. I enjoy the ride and have 100,250 miles on it ( an 04).  It is super comfortable and 700 mile days are fairly easy to do and 900miles  is possible. I enjoy riding. To me, I bought my bike to go see not to be seen. I'm going to ride it, not look at it.  Have fun whatever you ride, enjoy the hobby. Protect it from the politicians. Join an organized group that works on cycle issues. Have fun.

  8. for the last 35 years I chose my bikes because they weren't hondas. ANYTHING ELSE IS BETTER.

had a 750 & a 350 honda 35 years ago, couldnt believe how cheap they were made, for example instead of cam  bearings they just run the cam in the hole where the cam bearing should go. their motto is let the other manufacturers waste money on engineering & fitting bearings we will spend the same money on advertising campaigns.

"you meet the nicest people on a honda" BS! if I wanted to meet nice people I would go to church.

it worked because most people traded their bike in before they had enough miles for the cheap worthless aluminum c**p to wear out.

after a few years all the other manufacturers had to start doing the same thing to stay price competitive.

they had  some good engineers & mechanics build a few killer race bikes, while their whole in house engineering department worked on how to make things cheaper & use less material

honda is the chevrolet of motorcycles.

  9. it was not a CROTCH ROCKET

  10. Mine chose me

It was yelling at me from under a pile of parts "GET ME OUT OF HERE"

  11. "Lover not a Fighter" knows whats going on.

  12. The dealer started up my first bike on the shop floor and I bought it right on the spot. That was forty years ago and I still ride the same make and model. There have been other machines (cruisers and sport bikes) during that time and the original bike is long gone only to be replaced with a nicely refurbished copy. I love it for the sound - the ride - and the shear pleasure of just looking at it. It could use better brakes but somehow a disc brake on the front just would not look 'right'. As a plus, no one I've ever met on the road has a similar machine. My bike, like myself, is unique.

  13. I chose my bike based upon the cash in my pocket.

  14. because when i was 15 i saw a dude do a sit down wheelie on the highway goin probably 110-120 on a blue and white gixxer.. i wanted one since

  15. As a teenager my Mom would not let me have bike. Growing up my uncle had Harley's and I always wanted one. My Mom did not let me have one until I turned 48. I now have a Road King and have rebuilt it myself. So it was the tradition and brother hood the drove me to joining the Harley family.  Plus the fact I wrecked 3 out of 5 sport bikes I borrowed as a teenager. What can I say I was young and dumb.  LOL

  16. Standard riding position, Shaft Drive, Acceleration that will stretch Your arms. 1991 GSX1100G

  17. I wanted the torque of a large V-twin with the classic styling of a classic bike.  It's a blend of old school looks and simplicity with new school parts and reliability.  I also wanted the satisfaction of saying I built it myself.  That way, I'm not just quoting stuff I read in a brochure at the dealership.

  18. Well to be totally honest, I bought a cruiser this time around because I cannot seem to keep my head when I get on a fast bike. The racer in me just comes out like Jekyll and Hyde when I sling a leg over something fast. On the track that's totally cool, but when I get on a fast sports bike on the road I have a hard time riding with any restraint. I do have a sports bike also, but ride it mainly at the track and also ride/race motocross regularly. If I didn't have these outlets for speed at the local tracks I would certainly be on a sport bike tearing up the back roads. I feel at this point I am just safer having a bike that keeps me at cruising speed on the road and then get my speed fix at the track. Had too many close calls on the road.

  19. I chose my bike because I tour a lot. I got such a sweet deal on it that I could not say no to it.

  20. God told me to!

I've owned several but for some reason I just keep going back to dependable ole Honda.

  21. I picked the bike I have because I like the style/look of it.  I like how it rides, performs (after a few fixed engineering flaws) and SOUNDS.  I like setting off car alarms in pricey neighborhoods!  It is comfortable and has all the power I need.  I was GOING to buy a Honda VTX (I too am a big fan of the Honda), but then I saw the Indian Dealer.  Being from MA and knowing Indian's history, I was drawn to the iconic American brand.  My motorcycle's uniqueness turns heads more than any other bike I've seen, and that is probably my favorite thing about my bike.  On any given day you can see 20 100th Anniversary Harleys, one of my buddies has one.  Its a nice bike for sure, but when we ride together, he complains that my bike gets all the attention!

Indian, America's FIRST production motorcycle!  Yeah, it may have had a long hiatus, but Indian went under because it stopped commercial production to make bikes for our troops.  I'm okay with that.  Back in business this fall!

  22. only Vtwin sportsbike Honda made

it's s**y, rides smooth, sounds incredible, race proven, won multiple championships on the race track, plus it's a HONDA you can't go wrong with a HONDA...

  23. I have a 1977 BMW air head and I got that because I did not want to ride a harley like everyone else. I have always had "different " bikes. Before that I had a 67 Triumph Bonneville and before that I had a 71 Norton Commando

  24. the name HONDA
