You can not adopt a dog or cat less than six weeks old though most breeders won't even consider adoption before eight weeks. That's two months. This is done because the impotance of bonding between young animals and their mothers has been found to be very important. Breeders have recognized that earlier detachment leads to behavioral problems in the animal's adult life.
Why, then, does this not apply to humans. Why is it okay for babies to get snatched up and carried off as soon as they are born.
I was also wondering why there is a two week "cooling off" period for almost any contract (house, car) where you can back out for whatever reason, but there are probably less than 5 states with a revocation period that long.
Aren't human babies and children more important than animals and property?
