My local digital stations freeze-up and disappear for a few seconds and then re-appear .

When analog stations cut of permantly will we have to deal with digital stations freezing up or will stations increase their power ?

This is annoying especially when i am watching a tv show .

Analog does not have this problem with the picture disappearing .

I do not have an antenna problem my antenna is on my roof .

  1. In digital TV's the signal is either there or it isn't.  There is no in between or variance like with analog.  The only way to get this to stop is to hook up an antenna.

Don't be fooled, although there are HD antennas out there, you don't really need one.  At the very least, try to re-use the one on your roof first, if it doesn't work , then go look for an HD antenna.

FYI, I live in a metro city, and I can get all our local HD programming with a crappy little set of rabbit ears from like 1971.

    Good luck.

  2. Freezes and dropouts are caused by a disturbance in the digital path and it can be anywhere between the camera and your TV.  The most probable cause is a poor signal into your converter, especially if it is happening on all channels.

This could be as simple as your antenna not being aimed properly.  If the antenna has been on the roof for a while, you might want to check the connections for corrosion, too.

Visit http://www.antennaweb.org and put in your ZIP code.  It will give you a list of stations in your area, suggestions on antennas for your unique situation and guidance on where to aim them.  You may also need a better antenna.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.
