Because Walmart sells clear guns mostly.  I personaly think clear guns look pretty cool but thats just my opinion.  Clear guns are good for backyard wars, but they certainly can't compare to Tokyo Marui or Classic Army.

Because *most* of the time it is true, but even walmart has decent beginner models such as these:

So it depends on what you are looking for, if you are just starting out and need a plinker any of those are just fine.  The C11 above actually holds it own even against high-end green gas blowbacks despite the lack of hop-up.

Once you get to MPEG and high-end guns the clear versions kind of dissapear, people who compare low end LPEGs to MPEGs and high-end guns are simply ignorant and let their airsoft snobbery talk for them.
