Question:

Why Do People Not Enjoy Their Food at Restaurants?

We all do it, we go to those chain restaurants with out families, we eat the food within a half hour of getting it, and we leave, without ever really enjoying the experience. Eating food should be beautiful. It should taste good. It should be bonding. It should open up your personality. You know you've experienced it when you've had a great meal. Yet we continue to go to these restaurants of frozen food because it's cheap and easy. Food at GOOD restaurants costs only little bit more and it's so much better.

And why is everyone in a rush? Can't you put off whatever unimportant thing you think you have to do for another hour?

When will people love their restaurants again?

  1. Time constraints.  Everyone is hurrying no matter what they do. As an older couple nothing is more annoying then sitting down at an upscale restaurant and listening to someones child throwing a tantrum.

  2. i agree but the world today is all about rushing..its like rush rush rush ,hurry, hurry, hurry, just to get no where!

  3. You know, the faster youre in and out, the more parties your server can get in at that table, the more money they make.

  4. I totally agree.  I do go to chain restaurants but I also go to nicer and better places where you soak in the experience and get wonderful meals.  People these days are so consumed with the amount of time and money that they have that they are not gonna to sacrifice their precious time and money for a good meal.  It's unfortunate that people don't realize that they don't take the time to live life.  Everyone is so rushed that they are not truly enjoying things that should be enjoyable.  I for one love food so I will continue to savor and embrace a good restaurant.  I just feel sorry for those who can't share our passion for good food, they are really missing out.

  5. good point, but i think when you say GOOD restaurant you mean a "class" one. people just dont want to me judged by the way they dress or the way they eat. and even the slightest price increase is enough to put people off, you wouldnt beleive how many people iv seen in the shops who turned away at something only to go somewhere else for a tiny bit cheaper. some people are just fast eaters. maybe its not that there in a hurry but because they enjoy it that much that they actually WANT to eat it quickly. usually restaraunts are for special occasions and are likely to remain that way sadly.

  6. When I was little dessert was mainly ONE day a week on Sunday.

Now its everyday, it seems more and more people are indulging in more and more pleasures, including restaurants where they go to eat and then are so busy they don't stay.

It's not a special occasion or privilege anymore it's almost like a given taken for granted.

I honestly don't feel like people are going to enjoy the restaurants till they appreciate them more, maybe less money, or the restaurants are gone or something.

I think we are all spoiled to tell you the truth and immune.

  7. We westerners need to SLOW down...eat more slowly and enjoy our meals even if at HOME.  Too much at the sink eating, grabbing from 'fridge, or in front of the TV.

  8. Probably not anytime soon. This society has become accustom to doing things almost instantaneously.

I used to work in food, and let me tell you, the only people that sat down and enjoyed themselves were the people in their 60's and 70's. I know I want to slow down and "smell the roses" when I'm that age.

I know not much help, but just a little insight I guess.
