Why Do People Root For Their Own Country?

BTW I would definitely run the other way if drafted. I don't believe in killing people just because the gov tells me they are my enemy and I should. You fight for a gov full of scandals that lies and doesnt even give a d**n about you. Look at all the disgruntled and disenchanted soldiers that come back. Killing someone doesnt make you manly. Thinking for yourself is more impressive.

  1. Actually I root for the people who share my ethnicity, and they happen to only come from the U.S.

  2. Nothing wrong in supporting your country, it's all the whining that goes on if they don't win that drives me nuts.

  3. Because I have pride. For both Jamaica and the US

  4. Exactly pride! For one thning all throughout the four years you hear people in our country say i ahte the president i hate the war i wish i lived in Canada, but when your athlete wins and you hear our anthem something inside of you kicks in that says im so proud!  Even when they lose you feel bad for them because their your own!

  5. Why do you NOT? It doesn't make sense at all if you root for the opposing team.

  6. It's about patriotism and pride in your country. If seeing athletes from your country winning gold and draping your countries flag around their shoulders doesn't make you happy then your simply not a patriot.

  7. well the whole point of the olympics is to root that your own country will win but my boyfriend didn't like the olympics and he also just watched it for the girls :|

  8. One word, Pride.

  9. I think people have a lot a patriotism so they cheer for their own country.  I mean I'm American and there are plenty of hot girls in the Olympics for me to cheer for without having to cheer for another squad.

  10. It's two words pride and patriotism it's ok if you watching those volleyball chicks from other countries or your happy to see another country perform well but you should have some pride for your own country,

  11. Because it the country they are from and they take pride in that  and because the athletics r represent the country

  12. Because of national pride and national identity. You identify yourself with that country and because of this, you feel more strongly towards the country. So when your country wins, it almost feels like you win.

P.S. Even though your answers might suck, I enjoy your questions.

  13. Because I'm Canadian and no one in this country would even think of asking sucha stupid question.

    GO CANADA GO!!!

PS Tell Chrisnee to put his shirt on.

  14. because America is my country...which is also why i served her in the military...what is wrong with rooting for your own country..do you go to a ball game and chear for the apposing team..besides..you can chear for whomever you want..i really dont care

  15. Another word, Patriotism.

  16. your right!

why should we root for our own country

    where we grew up

    the country we love

lets just root for the countries with the hotter girls!

  17. It's okay if you don't root for athletes in your own country. But most people do it because of pride and to support the athlete because they are after all representing their country, meaning the people as well.

I've got favorite athletes that I follow up on and regardless of which country they represent, I root for them even in the olympics.

But when I don't really know who's who, I tend to root for my country or an underdog at times. But I like seeing that flag next to a name and of course want that athlete to succeed.
