  1. There are Nasheeds available without music. Inshallah, those will be better for you.

God forbid you should choose western/eastern music over Nasheed or Naat because of the advice we give here.

    Stay Pure.

  2. Doreen H we sure do have a good religion. you ignorant bioch

  3. Cool religion you've got there.

  4. yes your relatives are very religious which is a good thing. muhammad (saw) said that there will be a time where adultry and fornication will spread and people will play string instruments..which is highly discouraged in islam..but whoever sang this nasheed should've known that.. i surprises that that you are listening to a work of religion and it's forbidden

btw i listen to music alot but i don't let it interfere with my faith and prayer-when it's time to pray  i go pray

  5. Well sis., of course music is prohibited in our religion. A nasheed shouldn't have any musical instrument other than the duff (tambourine). The use of the tambourine has been permitted in Islam, and is recommended on special occassions.

Generally speaking, music is deemed to be har'am due to its effects on a person’s soul and the possible effects on morals. It is also very addictive and can lead to a person indulging in vain things (like illegal dancing and illegal s*x). It actually effects the subconscious mind, so you're unaware of how it is affecting you.

Music sows hypocrisy in the heart like water causes seeds to grow inside soil. It's simply going to damage ur sincere relationships. U must have seen in the newspapers how these popular musical celebrities keep having troubles with their relations (families, friends, spouses). These r the people with the highest divorce rates, tell lies all the time and have no morals. So music can never be passed as lawful on the basis of Shariah. It's the voice of Satan.

I can tell u from personal experience that it makes the Quranic recitation boring and troublesome for u. I have memorized the Quran, but when I got into bad company and began listening to music, I also neglected the Quran, since I never felt like reading it. Made me forget some of the parts. Thanks God, I realized that soon, and repented.

    Here's a hadith.

((Among my Ummah there will certainly be people who permit zinaa, silk, alcohol and musical instruments…)) until the end of the hadeeth.

    Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said:

“I was ordered to avoid two foolish and lowly sounds; a sound of a musical tune and Satan’s musical instruments, and cries (lamenting noisily) due to some calamity.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhî]

Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) said,

فدل هذا الحديث على تحريم المعازف‏.‏ والمعازف هي آلات اللهو عند أهل اللغة وهذا اسم يتناول هذه الآلات كله

((This hadeeth indicates that ma'aazif are Haraam, and ma’aazif means musical instruments according to the scholars of (Arabic) language. This word includes all such instruments.))

  6. Maybe because your relative is very religious :)

  7. HARAM POLICE

    ------------------

    What Is Nasheeds?

  8. "And of mankind is he who purchases idle talk (Lahwul-Hadeeth) to mislead men from the path of Allaah without knowledge, and takes it by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment." [Luqman 31:6]

Just as the prohibition of singing and listening to it is proven in the Qur'aan, so too has the Sunnah. The Prophet (sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said,

"There will be from my Nation a people who will deem fornication, silk (for men), alcohol, and music to be permissible; and there will be a people who will camp beside a high mountain, when a poor man passes by them and asks for a need, they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' In the morning Allaah will make the mountain fall upon them and the others (who are saved) are transformed into apes and pigs, until the Day of Judgement." (Al-Bukhari no. 5990)

Music is the use of instruments of Lahw, and part of this is singing and listening to it. So Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu `alayhi wa sallam) condemned those who seek to legalize fornication, the use of silk for men, drinking alcohol, and such entertainment instruments and listening to them. Here he accompanied music with other major sins. In the end of the Hadeeth he threatened those who do that with a punishment.

This shows that listening to music is unlawful. But a person is not sinning when he accidentally listens to music, such as a person who is walking in the street and hears music being played in stores, or in a car, as long as he does not desire to listen to it. Such a person is not sinning because he has no choice; however, he must advise and warn those who are playing the music, he must do so with wisdom and good exhortation. And should avoid as much as possible going to places where music is played, and Allaah does not place a burden on a soul greater than it can bear.

There are many adverse effects of music. It also helps the jinns/devils to come against us. and yes there are proofs.

  9. Yep your cousin was right and i'll give you hadiths of the prophet (PBUH) to be evident to the fact that musical instruments in islam is haraam.

The majority of Muslim scholars prohibit music and musical instruments. It is mentioned in Sahîh al-Bukhâri that Abû Mâlik al-Ash`arî said: “I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: “There will be a group of my people who will legalize for themselves adultery, pure silk, intoxicants, and stringed instruments."

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “I was ordered to avoid two foolish and vile sounds; a sound of a musical tunes and Satan’s musical instruments, and cries made on account of a calamity.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhî]

The only exception to this ruling is the duff, a tambourine without bells, which only women are allowed to use among themselves as an accompaniment to their singing at weddings and on other festive occasions. This was permitted by the Prophet (peace be upon him).

    Assalamu alaikum sis =)

  10. Well, only the drum instrument is halal (since it was used to maintain the morale of Muslim when they were in a war).

I don't know really why, I don't expect nasheeds to be haram, it's probably because there's other instruments that are haram playing. It can't be helped. You could always pray to Allah for forgiveness, incase if it is haram.

  11. Quawwali, tabla and musical instruments, etc... are all absolutely haram.

    The Prophet(SAW) said:

"I swear by the Being who sent with a true religion that when a man raises his voice for singing, ALLAH(SWT) appoints two devils over him; sitting on his shoulders, they go on kicking him in the chest till he becomes quiet."

Imam Abu Hanifa(RA) also declared the hearing of songs haram.

It is said that if someone claims that by hearing songs he is attracted towards the rememberance of ALLAH(SWT) and gets engrossed in it, it is an express lie, as the Sharia has not kept any secret in a prohibited work.

Had it been permissible to hear songs, the Prophets would have had greater right to do so.

Also said: "Abstain from music, for it enhances passion and destroys magnanimity."

"Singing grows hypocrisy in the heart even as water grows the crop."
