Why Do Some Women Remain?

remain single all their lives and have no children?

In history they are called spinsters, or old maids or handmaidens.

Why do they exist and what purpose do they serve in society?

I am asking so someone can educate me on this?

So......you are saying that the female gender, over half of the human population (at least in the United States) has no purpose in society other than to be wives and mothers?

Not doctors, teachers, astronauts, physicists, lawyers, lawmakers, engineers, architects etc?
