  1. When the bed is on the floor you get a lot of dust in your bed and face. Who the heck wants to sleep on a bed on the floor . Its dirty!

You want to be up higher then the floor to breath clean fresh air.

  2. Look into a captains bed.

Its is high enough to sit on and can look very sleek.

You gain storage and you don't need a box spring.

  3. You don't need the frame but the box spring is a must in order for your mattress to perform correctly.

  4. you certainly can take it off the frame, but it will look like you couldn't afford a real bed

if you like being lower to the ground get a platform bed, or most of the Ikea beds don't require a separate box spring and are about 10-12" closet to the ground.'

Most people love that extra storage too under a bed, and the height is also intended for the most ease in getting in out out.

  5. You don't have to have a frame if you don't want to.

  6. It's mostly a warranty issue.  If you purchase a new mattress and do not have it on they type of frame they recommend, it voids the warranty.  I used to sell home furnishings and I would suggest to my customers that did not want a frame to purchase the least expensive one that would still keep the warranty in tact and if something went wrong they would have a receipt showing they had the proper frame.

  7. You don't.  You can put your box spring and mattress right on the floor if you want to.  The frame raises the bed to a comfortable sitting height and makes it easier to move it to a different location.
