Ok why if you jump the gun or false start in swimming it is either automatic DQ or DQ at the end of the race but then in track if its a false start they let everyone line up even the person that jumped the gun and everyone gets to try again?? Someone please explain the difference to me and why does it count in swimming but not in track! Thanks

  1. In order to find a false start in swimming they would have to review the videos. In track its obvious. But the main reason is, in track they call the false start after just a few seconds, and in swimming its at the end of the race, so the swimmers would be too tired to start again.

    Hope I helped.

  2. In track, it's easy to stop the race and restart. That's not easy to do in swimming. Everyone has to dry off, wipe their feet, then get back in place. It takes way too much time.

  3. Prime time B is wrong. You get one false start in track and everyone lines back up.  On the second one the person who false started is DQ. The other answers for swimming are correct.

  4. well its easier for runners to restart than swimmers .. and in running you get 2/3 strikes then ur DQ'd

  5. for swimming they would all have to get out of the water and then back in. in track they can just back up again. in swimming like that you may not be able to hear what they are saying...

  6. In track you are told possibly even before the gun that there was a false start. The runners go no more than 20m before they go back to the line to restart. If someone false starts again they get disqualified whether or not they did the 1st false start.

In swimming, they drop into the water, then they won't be able to hear anything for a good distance, if its a 50m race they don't even lift their heads out of the water til the end. Plus the swimmers would have to come all the way back, drying off and preparing for a restart, wasting a whole lot more energy and time than it would be for track.

  7. Track has a one false start rule.  Second one dqs you.

  8. on track you always have to position your foot lightly at the end and it decided by hundreths of a second with swimming its a bit different

  9. didn't know track allowed 1 false start

am answering bc I know swimming does

thus :::False start does NOT count only in swimming
