  1. It could be viruses or spyware, but also with computers when they get older you are always adding files to them and alot of them you dont need or use any more and same with programs. All that space not being used will add time to your start-up because it makes more for the computer to process.

Your best bet to make your computer like new would be to add all the documents you absoulutly need to a jump drive or cd or anything else and reboot your computer. To reboot your computer you will need to locate all of your disks that came with your computer to reboot they might say system recovery on them if you bought your compter with windows already on it or if you instaled it your self it would just be the windows disk thaat you bought.

I did this to my computer recently because it took about 15 minutes to boot up now it is down to 2-3minutes. and if you need any help just email me.

  2. Defragging won't help. The BASIC answer to your question is: Because you are running windows and using a PC instead of a Mac. LOL.

But try this, go to www.download.com and get AVG FREE Antivirus, and get ADAWARE FREE and also Spybot S&D. Install and run all of those and they should find most of your problems.

    Good luck?
