Question:

Why Does My Guinea Pig Bite Everything?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

Whenever something comes close to my guinea pigs' mouth, she bites it. I put a towel on my lap when I hold her, and she'll bite the edges of that if she sees them. She'll also bite fingers if they are near. Why? Please help! Thanks!

Oh, additional info:

I got her in June

She is almost seven months old

She is a long-haired female

Thanks again!

:)

  1. Crystal and Eeny are right. Guinea pigs nibble when they want to be put away, or taste whatever is in front of them, but also as a way to show you they trust you/like you if they l**k and nibble. One of my females loves l*****g me and she'll add in the occassional nibble. It's perfectly normal, but if you want her to stop, gently pull her head away whenever she nibbles. They usually get the message after a while.

  2. It could be because she needs to pee. Most guinea pigs get a bit edgy when they need to reliev e themselves

look it up on the intewrnent

also some piggies are just biters

    hope this helps

  3. I agree with the first answer, but I would like to add that, like rats, guinea pigs teeth constantly grow, if you haven;t all ready, put some chew sticks in her cage, something that will help wear her teeth down naturally when she chews on it :)

  4. She's not biting hard, right? Sometimes a light nibble is a way for guinea pigs to communicate that they need to go to the bathroom or would like to be put away. Other times they just nibble to taste everything around them, which a few of my guinea pigs do. It's very normal.

  5. Have you read http://www.cavyspirit.com/biting.htm ?

  6. idk y! but my rat does that 2!

    good luck! ♥♥
