Why Does Timer From Yahoo Chess Cheat Me?

Sometimes when I play a rated game with a time limit my opponent runs out of time and the game continues until I run out of time then I lose why is this

That shouldn't happen.  If your opponet runs out of time first you win.  I would contact Yahooo and ask them.
