Question:

Why Does Yahoo! Accept Obscene Advertisements?

Yahoo!, without any adequate explanation, classified my group as adult. Now, there are obscene advertisements along the bottom of the group's home page, sponsored by Yahoo!. I find this extremely offensive.

It also shows Yahoo! to be hypocritical. If a question or an answer here contains the slighest hint of criticism toward one of Yahoo!'s favored minorities, they will penalize the person involved. Yet, Yahoo! thinks nothing of besmirching a group by classifying it as adult, and then placing obscene advertisements in it. If anyone (including anyone from Yahoo!) can explain this practice, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

  1. The Yahoo Group I moderate also got recategorized as an Adult Group once; this happened without any explanation from Yahoo.  I had to send them a polite request to change it back by using the form at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/... .  In the request, I mentioned that me and the owner actually delete messages and other content that typically would be considered Adult content.  Fortunately, Yahoo did change it back two days after I sent the form.

I heard a rumor that Yahoo does this recategorizing if it gets a complaint about a Group.  I don't know whether they check to see if the complaint is valid or not.

BTW, Yahoo only accepts obscene advertisements for Adult Groups.

  2. a bot or a complaint is what resets a group to adult.

fill out the form, include the category the group should be in. it is said yahoo will reset it within 24 hours if it wasn't due to a complaint
