I know what defines a dessert (less than 10inches of rain a year) So I know that it is a desert because it doesnt rain and i know that the Atacama dessert, Sahara dessert and Antarctica (dry valleys in particular) are the 3 driest places on earth.

But i dont know why it doesnt rain in these areas? why is it that clouds do not get blown over these areas, or if they do then why is it that they dont burst? I know they do get a degree of rain, Sahara 1 inch a year on average for example so it is possible for it to rain, so why doesnt it so it more frequently??

  2. Has nothing to do with mountain tops, have you notice how high up our clouds are? When do you see mountain tops going into space?? lol answer is simple, clouds loss their moisture prior to getting to those areas in need, and since there is no water to help re-moisturize the cloud systems, then no rain...

But sometimes clouds can go far distances and make it, but still all has to do with the forces of earth and the direction of the globe and its winds.

Has nothing to do with mountain tops, there is no mountain top that goes into space breaking the skyline, impossible, only in AVATAR ;)

  3. it doesn rain because there are no big mountain in a desert so the clouds cant reach them and because there is a less quantity of water so it cant evaporate
