Question:

Why Doesn't Anyone Give the Rays any Credit?

Everyone seems to think that they will implode and not even make the playoffs, I want to know why. Personally I think that they will finish with a better record than the Red Sox, definitely the Yankees

  1. thats what im saying. all these people that say they are going to have a big collapse soon dont know what they are talking about. these rays are a very good team. plus they have been playing better than the red sox and yankees except for that one little losing streak. i see them as a wild card at LEAST. i really want them to win the east though. if they were in any other division in baseball they would win it no doubt. i am a life long rays fan nnot a bandwagon fan. i have lived in tampa since 92 so yeah. but they will make it no matter what people say. period

  2. I think it's awesome that the Rays are doing this well, they have a lot of young players which is probably why people give them less credit, because they are not proven veterans that have been in a playoff race before, but personally I think they will be fine and if they don't win their division then I think they will definitley win the wild card.

  3. The Yankees will inevitably heat up soon and catch up and surpass the Rays, and Boston will continue to mingle around in 2nd or 3rd place. I do give the Rays a lot of credit, and I think they're a great team. But let's be realistic here: the playoffs are out of the question for them.

  4. I give credit to the Rays for being a good team but the only reason I say they miss play offs is becasue the players have never dealt with one major issue come September & that is pressure.  Yankees & Red Sox player have played under those circumstances before & know what it takes to win & don't know if Rays can handle that but if they win division or make the play offs, I will offer my congrats to the them

  5. smfh

firstly it is the yankees who gets no credit and dey all forget that the yankees are notorious for second half runs now the rays were on pace to win about 105 wins which dey werent about to do i thought dey wud be good dis year but not dat good now dey RELY over achived in the first half and it cant get anybetter it can only get worse and deyre all young players who have never been in a pennant race and all around sept 1 are out of it u dont know how dey will react as of with the sox n yanks deyve been dere and know wat needs to be done to win now i think dey will slow down and finish behind the yanks n sox but dis team will be a team to be reckoned with in the future

  6. Because they're a young team and are unexpiernced and are in the same division as the Red Sox and Yankees. Not to mention they are on and off after that losing streak before the All-Star break.

  7. I've been giving the Rays credit for quite awhile now. I knew they had good young talent, but at the beginning of the year I thought they were a couple years away. I don't think like that anymore. The way they have handled the Red Sox, especially at home, has convinced me.

  8. I think a lot of it has to do with people being realistic about the Rays. They are a good team and will stay in the mix probably for the rest of the season but I don't see them topping either the Red Sox or Yankees. They have a lot of young, inexperienced players and that will start to slow down the stretch.

  9. huh?? are you kidding me?? All the guys on espn are all...

"I think everybody knows that the Rays are here to stay"

    and

"I pick them to win the AL East"

who do you hang out with?

  10. The better question is how come Texas isn't getting credit

  11. Definitely the Yankees?? Are you kidding?  Did you watch those two games between the Yankees and the Rays before the all star break?  The Rays scored 1 run in two games.  Its Ok if you dont want to respect the Yankees, but you'll be looking up at them pretty soon. One more thing:  Look at the away records of each team in the AL east.  Winning on the road is very important.

  12. I think the biggest reason people think they will collapse is because they don't have the history of being good to back them up, like the Yankees and Red Sox do.

  13. I hate the Redsox and the Yankees, The Rays are my 2nd favorite team, Go Rays

  14. Who says that anyone doesn't give the Rays any credit? ESPN is going crazy over them saying what a great story they are.  Also, they are in first place.

They have a very athletic team and a young pitching staff, while the Yankees are beat up. I do think that baseball people shouldn't go totally crazy about the Rays' success.  Like Boston, they are GREAT at home, but they can't in on the road, which  is where their losing streak occurred. Tampa Bay has only 28 home games left, compared with 37 on the road. They love to use that Tropicana Turf to their advantage.   And they may finish with a better record than the Yankees, but I wouldn't bet money on it yet. Tampa Bay was 9 games up on the Yankees  just two weeks ago, but now it's down to 4 1/2. A lot can happen during the second half, it's where the good teams generally get hot.

  15. Probably because they are competing with teams that have strong track records of having good 2nd halfs...if they make the playoffs you'll see the credit....they are having a fantastic year up to this point.

  16. I don't think as many people actually think they will implode as you think there are.  But for those who do will probably mention their extremely young pitching and an offense that hasn't gotten really any better than it was last year.

  17. Because they haven't proved anything yet. When they win the division I'm sure people will know they are for real, but if they don't make it to the playoffs then they prove nothing. I feel for you though, I'm a Brewers fan and they get no credit, but once they win the division they will get it.

  18. I give them credit. I think they will at least get the wild-card. This is their best team yet. Their good.

  19. people do give them credit. but you  fans are so annoying you about tie with yankees as bing the cockines.

other than that i could care less.
