Question:

Why Doesn't The Media Give Our Soldiers The Respect They Deserve?

Our soldiers have been fighting the war on Terror risking their life for our countries safety. We have been making great progress in Iraq with 80% less violence, people cleaning up the streets and trying to get to having a decent life with our help. Why is good news no news? I would be so upset if I were in Iraq celebrating our success then knowing my people back home act like they don't give a hoot we are winning the war.

  1. "good news" doesnt attract viewers!!  I believe news channels believe that most of our country is against the war that is why they only show the negative...to "side" with viewers keeps people watching, keeping money in their pockets.

  2. cause good news (as you call it) doesnt make money---not for the local staions or the national networks---so they tend to ignore it

  3. I think a distinction needs to be drawn between respect for U.S. soldiers and criticism of U.S. policy.

I think that an argument can be made that when an administration fails to send an adequate number of troops to maintain order, has inadequate armor for vehicles and personnel, extends tours of duty, has inadequate physical and mental health care for wounded veterans, charges those wounded veterans for damage done to their uniforms, and rescinds  sign-on bonuses for wounded, that is where the lack of respect occurs.

None of those stories would have come to light without the media.

It could also be argued that American troops are not winning the war with insurgents so much as playing a deadly game of "whack-a-mole." U.S. troop deaths were at theuir lowest level since February, 2004, with 20 deaths recorded in Iraq.

This month, the body count already stands at 30.

  4. people want to see the worst from the media.. its all about ratings, people like horror, gore, etc..

we will win the war regardless.  but i understand where you are coming from, our troops do deserve better acknowledgment. they are over there for the wrong reasons, and many people know the truth and feel disgusted by it.

why fight in a country to keep ours safe?  we should be at our boarders keeping terrorists from coming in.  thank Bush Sr. for us going over there in the first place.

  5. Because the media doesn't support the war.

I agree they do deserve much more than they are given, and hopefully with a new president (Obama) they will be given all they deserve.

  6. Cause the media is into the story and that's all that matters.  Meaning that if the story is compelling enough to have them get more viewers which means more money for them in a sense.  That's all they really care about.

  7. Because the media is run by   kocksuckers they do not care about soldiers, your kids, fathers, brothers, sisters, they are the lapdogs for the

    bigger   kocksuckers  at the pentagon.

We need men like Major General Smedley D. Butler

again; he  would skull   P**c the   dinks on capital hill

and strangle them with their own intestines !!!

    Anyone up for that one?

Tired of the same old bulls--t?

  8. A suggestion there is a way suppose a way could be found to satisfy all at home and fight another segment of it at home as well. You might know of White Supremacists in The U.S. Well they could fit the definition of terrorist but something could be arranged an elite unit brought home from Iraq might fight them in the forests on an arranged and licensed hunting expedition between humans of non white elite forces types and Supremacists. This could gain respect forthe skills troops in Iraq as what was done in The U.S. would reflect well on soldiers in Iraq.
