Question:

Why Don't You Like Dale Jr.?

I think we all know how many Jr. Haters there are on here. But I really don't know just why you hate him. Is it because of -

how bad his interviews are (yes I know they can be bad)

his drunken redneck fans (I must admit I back them up)

how popular he is (it is a bit rediculous)

he isn't a good driver (but I don't know how you can say that when he has 18 career wins and sits 2nd in points to someone as dominant as Rowdy)

or....some other reason?

Just don't forget. Won a Daytona 500, won the Pepsi 400, is tied for most wins of an active driver at Richmond, and has 5 Talladega wins. And don't say why do Jr. fans hate Kyle. Well the answer to that is he spun Jr, hates Jr., is Jr.'s new rival and has a cocky attitude.

If you are a part of Jr. Nation just say something good about Junebug!

  1. I don't hate him.  I'm a Kyle fan and am tired of the drunks throwing their beer cans at him.  Granted, not all are Jr fans, but a large percentage of these goons are wearing Jr gear.  So I guess in answer to your question, I like Jr, just not some of his fans.  I doubt if Jr likes them much either.

  2. Jr. spun Kyle at Kansas, it happens.

  3. well you know i like him

  4. LOL, somebody says that jr "thinks" before opening his mouth!  In my opinion he doesn't come over as someone who has any intelligence.  Thanks to his dad he has a name and a career

  5. I dont like him for allof there reasons you stated

  6. Popularity- which is only because of his dad

He really isn't that good of a driver

  7. umm rudy if you took Jr plate track wins out of the equation, Jr would still have 11 wins, if you're going to say something negative at least get your facts right.

I see some people can't take getting their flaws pointed out.

  8. He came down and wrecked Kyle at Richmond.  Gosh I hated that.

  9. Sorry but the reason I don't like Jr is all of the above.

Bad interviews- last night was horrible

    Drunken fans

Popularity- which is only because of his dad

He really isn't that good of a driver

So if it comes down to Rowdy and Jr. ----- Go Rowdy!!

but if everyone liked the same driver what fun would that be

  10. Jr. has always been one of my favourites and always will be. I don't see why he would be hated and have 'haters' or whatever. Their choice, I suppose! He's a great driver and he seems like he'd be a cool person to hang with :)

  11. I guess, because you say I don't

  12. I've never disliked Jr.

To an extent, it has to do with his fans. Keep in mind I'm married to one, so I KNOW it's not all of them.

    It's his fans like you.

You sit and harp on what happened MONTHS ago, over and over we've had to listen to you whine and complain about what happened between Jr. and Kyle at Richmond.

You asked, I told ya. I do tend to cut you some slack, though.

I have you pegged for maybe 15 or 16 years old..

  13. I'm a Jr. fan. but i also like Rowdy too.

Jr. is a great driver. end of story.

  14. Here is my universal answer to this question:

First off, let me say I have a problem with his fans. Because they are blind, cheering for a name, not a driver. They think what a driver does off the track dictates how good he does on the track. They have this wierd idea that JR is god and is here to save us from the "bad drivers" and the "evil stepmother." His fans are absurd. When he loses, it's always someone elses fault. When he was getting DNF's last season, it was Theresa's fault. When the fans threw beer at Jeff Gordon for beating Dale SR on the all time wins list, it was someone else throwing the beer, same with when Kyle Busch won at Darlington. Personally, if you're not sucked into his fan base from the beginning, it is not hard to realize how ridiculous his fans are in what they say and do.

It's sad to say that most NASCAR fans are fans of Dale JR because they are oblivous that this "hero" makes any mistakes, causes any wrecks, or anything else that contradicts their god-like image of him, yet they are the first to blame other drivers for nudging JR. The media continues to give fuel to his ego, and this gives him more fans. When they watch NASCAR on television Dale JR is talked about whether he's 3rd or 43rd, and if someone is new to the sport they must think that he is the best thing ever to climb into a race car simply because of all the undeserving media attention he gets. 80% of his fans came from his father who passed away in 2001, and they were quick to jump on the Dale JR bandwagon as he was the closest thing to Dale SR they could find. If JR fans say "he's the best" enough times, maybe eventually they will convince themselves that it is true, even though any outsider of JR nation can see that's not true at all.

A large percentage of JRs fans have no respect for the history of the sport, and they continue to turn viewers away with some of the things they have done in the past, like throwing beer on the track when JR doesn't win. They put a God complex on him, and are to disillusioned to realize he is not the greatest thing ever, and had it not been for his dad, he would have a very small fan base.

He is portrayed as a "good ole boy" and that's what some ignorant fans of his do to reason his popularity, but the fact is that Sterling Marlin, Morgan Shepherd, Reed Sorenson and many others are "good ole boys" and they have some of the smallest fan bases around. It just doesn't add up, and most of his fans are bandwagon jumpers that cheer for him because "everybody else is doing it" and not because they actually know anything about him. If you ask about 75% of his fans why they like him, they will give you a blank stare, occasionally breaking in with the words "umm, well, uhh he is a good ole boy" or "I like him because he is cute and the best" (without explaining why he is the best, unless they are saying he is so cute that automatically makes him the best?) something to that effect. What I don't get, is that his fans seem the complete opposite of JR himself. If someone says "JR might not be the greatest thing ever" they go crazy and resort to bad mouthing, knowing they cannot defend their stance. It's sickening when you try to have a constructive argument with some JR fans, only the first time you say something negative about him, his fans will resort to all out bashing.

The Most Popular Driver award is often given to the person who everyone loves, but doesn't get in victory lane much. Which is evident when looking at JR's stat sheet...3 wins since the beginning of 2005, not exactly "the best driver in NASCAR" type stats.

Some of us do not drink JR's kool-aid and realize he's not the greatest thing ever to climb into a stock car.

  15. He is absolutely overrated.  He is not good enough to deserve the god-like status that has been handed to him in NASCAR without doing anything to deserve it except have the last name Earnhardt.  Ooooh, he won a Daytona 500...so did Derrick Cope if I recall.

  16. Jr is a decent driver. but to many back door deals with Hendrix, cause the hate.  How come Jeffy cant win this year but Jr. can come close. Jeff was un-stoppable last year.

How come Jr. couldn't win in daddy's co, and got run off when the they ran out of tissues.

My beef comes from the uneven use of knowledge on cars on the same team.

Do I sound like a Jeff fan?  excuse me while i go toss up breakfast...

Hey i have an idea, if you have to slow down the Toyota so Hendrix can catch up why don't they make the impala better?

Or have (One car exactly) the same for all drivers that should show the driver skills.

  17. Jr is the man!

Kyle lacks in the interviewing as well.  At least Jr THINKS before he opens his mouth.

Every driver has drunken redneck fans, wasn't these types of people the ones that grew Nascar from the beginning?  Jr just has more of them because he has the largest fan base EVER.

People hate popularity.  Jr is and has been and will continue to be the most popular driver in the sport.

Anyone that says Jr isn't talented is just an idiot, plain and simple.  He earned his Cup ride by winning back to back Busch titles...and anyone who knows anything about Dale Sr should know he wouldn't hand anybody anything who he didn't think could get the job done.

Let the haters have their fun...Knaus said yesterday that HMS has finally caught up with the COT...If they have just now caught up, it's not too long until last year starts happening all over again.  I think we are going to see a VERY different 2nd half...go 88 and HMS!

  18. hated his dad

  19. I just don't like him as one of my favorites & I don't care how popular he is.  Everybody doesn't have to root for the poster boy of NASCAR.  I don't hate him but he gets too much attention when there are many other more deserving drivers who do.  Jr is nice but he's just not one of  my favorites.

  20. I don't like him because he gets fans the wrong way most of his fans feel sorry for him because of his daddy. the other reason is that alot of his fan use to be his daddys fans the are using him to replace their old favorite racer.

  21. The fact that you like him is enough to convince me that I don't and never will.

  22. I'm not a part of Jr. Nation, but I also don't dislike him. He is 2nd in points and is a good driver. I will say I don't like "drunken redneck" fans. I don't understand anyone throwing beer cans at other drivers. That is rude. However, I don't blame Jr. He has spoken out against it many times.

  23. Jr is a decent driver, but that's as far as it goes. He has 18 career wins, and if you removed his victories from restrictor plate races he would have hardly none at all.

If I were picking a favorite driver based on personality and "Mr Niceness" then I would definitely give the award to Jr, but if I were hiring a driver I would want him to have a killer's instinct that would propel him to the checkered flag, much like his father had. But it is his personality that wins him the most popular driver award. Lets see how many cup trophies that gets him by the end of his career.

The thing I hate most about Jr is not him, but the blindness of his fans to not accept that he is mediocre, and that not everything associated to Dale Jr means it is the best.

I firmly believe that much of his fan base came early because of his dad and who he was.

Look at how many years he's been racing cup and compared to Rowdy who now has 11 cup wins, in such a short time span, how long do you think it will take Kyle to overtake him in wins, not to mention cup trophies!

  24. Junior has been my favorite driver and always will be.

Granted he could brush up on his interviews they do kinda suck, but geez he always has a microphone in his face ALL the time. But he isn't arrogant he drives with respect for the other drivers and a majority of the other drivers respect him also.

  25. I do like Dale Jr.

I actually like almost all of the drivers.......

Yes Jr's interviews are bad, BUT..Look at the questions he is asked. Like Yesterday when they asked "how special it would be to have another Father/son winner". Well, DUH, don't you think that every time he gets in the car you knot head reporters.

I didn't see any tossed beer cans at the finish yesterday, but Denny Hamlin did have a COORS Light can in his grill for a while (Sterling Marlin fans????)

He finished ahead of Kyle, 'nuff said.
