With the Higher wages being paid to our govenmnet Workers, and the Trips aLodging and Some Money for food paid for, no wounder our country is going broke during this hard time.

Its time for the Government Workers to pay at least 1/2 their own expenses if not all. Flying to and from Government should pay, but the rest Compromise for our broke Country, WHat doe Avergae American Jobs get? nothing.

Time for everyone to get on same page and help our government and Economy in my opinion. How about yours?

  1. Most government workers make less money than they would in the private sector.  No one in the private sector pays for their business trip expenses--they all have a "per diem", just like government workers who travel.  No one, regardless of who they work for, would continue working for them if the company made them pay for travel the company was forcing them to take.  It isn't like business trips are vacations; you're working the entire time.

There have been some problems with government contractors (not government employees) booking 1st class plane tickets and such, which of course is ridiculous. The GAO is working to eliminate this.

In my agency, travel has been dramatically cut back; it's hard to get trips approved even if making the trip is vital to the success of your office's mission.

You're right though--the country's broke and no one's doing a thing to fix it.  We need to get out of Iraq somehow, and eliminate all the earmarks (pork) that Congress puts into the budget.  Unfortunately, this takes political courage, which few politicians seem to have nowadays.

  2. Most Government worker don't get paid above average.

Would you take a job that you had to pay 1/2 your expenses

when they sent you on training meetings or out to vist a clients.
