People in Agriculture and Research in Philippines where we have tropical weather green houses are used to regulate the sunlight reaching the plants, protect the plants from insects and other animals, as well as other plants who might have a detrimental effect like cross pollination.  Temperature and humidity is also controlled for maximum  plant productivity.

    The International Rice Research Institute is located in Laguna, Philippines and they even have greenhouses with airconditoned rice fields.

    In Mindanao, they have green houses for tomatoes and other agricultural crops like lettuce and asparagus.

    By creating conditions those are non existing in out side atmosphere. Giving the plants more of carbon-(di-oxide) and more hours of sun light by providing artificial light. Creating accurate conditions (atmosphere, water and soil), inducing palnts to grow out of season in perfect growth!
