Why Geoff Boycott says ponting is not worth mentioning along with Sachin & Lara?

because ponting's batting was not tested under tremendous pressure like sachin and lara........besides ponting's graphite bat contributes a lot in those runs...........which is not working now???

What Geoff Boycott had meant was Ponting is not in the same class as Sachin and Lara, which does not mean that Ponting is a bad player.

Ponting did not really face a great bowling with great fielders because they were in his team. He had great success against Pakistan which really did not have very great test match bowlers in his time. He was good against South Africa and Zimbabwe. He did not really face Alan Donald but faced Shaun Pollock. Then the next level performances are against Windies, New Zealand and England. Here there were no great bowlers. Against India and Sri Lanka which had Anil and Murali, he was not good enough.

Overall, I think Ponting has been lucky not to have faced high class bowling.

I think Boycott is out of line with his comments..

He himself would say any batsman who can pass 10,000 International test runs should be known as 'One' of the best..

This time i think he is wrong.Look at Ricky Ponting's 'solo' career average,and look at his 'captainship' record..

This question was widely discussed a few weeks ago. We all know why Boycott said it, & that is because of Australia's(& Ponting's) superiority over Boycott & his team. Let's face it, he is a sore loser and joins Peter Roebuck as the all-time Pommy whingers.Neither of them was up to much, but unlike Boycott, I don't think Roebuck went in for bashing up his wife.Ponting is a great player & not finished yet. He has the records to prove it, Does Boycott? I rest my case.
