  1. Well you don't need a degree, but it might be a good idea to get a certificate of some kind and/or do some volunteer work so that you have something to fall back on. Some women chose to be their own heroes (or rather heroines) rather than depending on a night and shinning amour that may or may not come into the picture. It's a nice feeling to make a little of your own money so that you don't have to ask your husband for everything [and feel guilty about it]. Plus, you never know when his number might be us or he'll develop a wandering eye.

  2. Well..What if your husband doesn't make much? What if somehow he gets injured, dies or leaves you..Then what? You going to flip burgers at McDonald's? Get your degree before you get married and knocked up. Its the smart thing to do. Plus...College/Uni is just fun anyways..Go have a good time for a couple years. Why not?

  3. because life is long and maybe u want options- what if your not happy and want to work?

  4. Your pursuit of an education will rub off on the kids.

  5. Because if you live in, say, the US, where the divorce rate is something like 60%, you are going to need an education or a trade or something or other to support yourself. Most people here need a 2-income household to survive anyway and unless you want that income to come from flipping hamburgers at McDonald's or standing at a cash register for 10 hours at Walmart, you need an college education.

My dad didn't want me to go to college. He thought I would grow up and become someone's housewife and baby maker. I went to college and ended up marrying and divorcing a loser who himself hadn't gone to college and wanted to drain my bank account. I have been single for more than 15 years now and I make nearly a 6-figure salary. That's why you should go to college.

  6. Lots of reasons... I am a stay at home and have no plans on working outside of the home because my husband makes enough to support us and I want to be here to raise my children, but am working toward my degree because what if... my husband dies or can't work? what if something happens and I'm left to support my family on my own? What am I going to do when my children are grown? Plus, it is better to be an example if you want your children to have a degree themselves, and you can help them in their studies when you are better educated yourself. Plus, it is a good goal to work toward, and there is nothing wrong with being well educated.

  7. To educate yourself in a subject you are interested in.

  8. How about because some people actually like to learn.

  9. some enjoy the challenge..

  10. My mother thought the same, then my father died and now she ended up without money and can't find a good job.

  11. The future is not set, women won't be house wives forever most kids are in full time school by the age of five so what will they do all day sit at home and be bored? or make use of that degree they were sensible enough to obtain?

  12. once your looks go you need some thing to fall back on

  13. And what if said housewife ends up being widowed or divorced?  How is she going to take care of her kids if she doesn't have any kind of a degree?  It is important to be able to take care of yourself if need be.

  14. because your hubby may kick you to the curb (most marriages fail) once you pop out a few and get older in favor of a more fit younger woman.  you think you got it figured out now...just wait 10 more years.

sorry to be brash but i can't stand young women with that kind of attitude...oh, a man will just take care of me so i don't have to conern myself with this or that.

    how lazy and despicable!

  15. lol im assuming ur asian.... :P

  16. Who cares if you are Asian, so what? If you don't want a degree then get out of uni and free the place for someone who really wants it. If you do want one then go for it, you don't have to be a housewife if you don't want to be. What about the future, you marry, have a family, the family grows up and becomes independent, so what do you do then? With your degree you will be able to work and you will be independent especially if your husband leaves you or dies, you will be able to care for yourself.

  17. you do not need to be a housewife. both husband and wife can work and your pakistani!

  18. The husband may die, or you get a divorce and have to support yourself and any kids you have.

  19. Sorry to say but some Men are no good go down to the woman's shelter and ask there you'll get the answers of a life time/..

  20. so that u can be an intelligent person...education dosent have to be all about getting money you know, and so you can teach your kids to be cleaver and so you can stand up to ur husband and not let him tell you "well, you dont know anything, cause I have a degree and you dont"

I htink the teaching ur kids is the most important reason, if they have a mum who is inquisitve about life and has interesing answers for things, they will be less inclined to turn out ignorant and judgemental, and gullible. Education reduces your gullibility, so that u dont believe all you are told, and so that you dont feel that others are better qualified ti answer than you, if you do feel that way, you are more likely to just accpet others opions without thinking about what they mean.
