i always liked the idea of traveling, so i look at colorful traveling magazines that have a beautiful scene, and for some reason Greece catches my attention. specially santorini, it looks so pure and clean, the clear waters and dark sands. i got to say its really impressive in photos

ive never been to Greece so i would like to know if its really that dreamy looking in person and not some scam, like some countries show nice photos, but when u go its very dissapointing.

Is it really that beautiful?

how hard its to learn Greek?

how expensive can Greece be? (in american dollars, lets say a complete dinner in USA its about eight dollars, how about Greece?

(and for those who send me political negative videos about greece i dont care, we all have social problems, so im not interested of seen those videos, someone its sending those and i dont care)

  1. Since you mentioned my favorite island Santorini I feel obligated to answer you with the same I say to the people around me about my experience there: You see those posters   everywhere of Santorini and you'd think is photo touch up and is not.

The real picture you get when you go there is same or even more beautiful since it unrolls under your eyes.

    Have a blast!

  2. Greece is a small country and 17-18 million tourists a year can't be wrong.

I travel allot in the winter the islands of the Caribbean,Spring and Autom Greece and from there Europe.

Nothing compares to the Greek Islands.

It is not only Beautiful it is Magical,it's like you travel back in time with so much history all around you.

It is what dreams are made off.One time is not enough to visit Greece.

So if you go do your homework and decide wisely,so you can have a vacation with substance.

The weather, the sea the sun,the sky in it's amazing blue and the white houses,DREAMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The food let's not forget about the food simply delicious, very seasonal and i love that, but nothing with 8 dollars maybe a souvlaki and a drink especially in the tourist areas.

  3. Greece is indescribably beautiful:

What you may not like is that it can also be extremely tacky in the really touristy areas & untidy and  the plumbing can be famously awful. Get past that, and it's a place not to be missed.

  4. Greece is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I was there in April for 9 days just on the mainland and the Peloponnesian Peninsula (no Mykonos or Santorini for this trip) and it was absolutely amazing. I can't wait to go back!

You really don't have to know a lot of Greek. Every place that you would go is a place that's used to tourists so they will speak English there. I do recommend that you pick up a decent traveler's phrasebook. I didn't have a problem because I know both ancient and modern Greek though.

It can be somewhat expensive in relation to America, partially because the Euro is strong and the American dollar really sucks. It will also be more expensive in "touristy" areas because they know that all the tourists who come have money (otherwise they couldn't afford to come), so try to find some places off the beaten path a bit. In a taberna (a typical Greek restaurant), a REAL Greek salad (tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, etc, but no lettuce) costs about 7 Euro. When I was there in April, the exchange rate was $1 = 1.60 Euro, which meant that my salad for lunch was about $11 USD. Dinners were included at the hotels that I was at, but that was ONLY part of the package that I booked (you will be on your own for dinner).

If you go, you will love it!

  5. Greece is a dream is very beautifully. you can see the ancient ruins or you meet traditions that you dont imagine. moreover greek beaches are the best in the world... and of course greek night life is the best in the world.. dear yes it is really learn greeks. is the second more difficult language on the world but you can learn tha alphabet which is Α,Β,Γ,Δ,Ε,Ζ,Η,Θ,Ι,Κ,Λ,Μ,Ν,Ξ,Ο,Π,Ρ,Σ,Τ,Υ,... IT is difficult because greeks have 6 different ways to say i, 2 differen ways to say e, and to different ways to say o. GREECE is really expensive but last years the prices are lower. you must go to greece.

    these are just a few....

as far as concerned the language ,its kind hard because almost every word is conjugated in greek, however just for "communication" words are quite ok to learn.

    a meal is about 6-10 euros (1 e=1.6 dollar)
