Question:

Why Hasn't My Ball Python Pooped?

I bought a 6 week old ball python about 3 weeks ago from a breeder. I've fed him three rat pinkies since I've had him, and he seems very healthy.

The only thing is, he hasn't pooped since I've gotten him! I went on a trip all of last week, and had a friend care for him. I expected him to p**p during that time, but I've returned to find that all he's done is produce urine and urinates (I think that's the term - small chalky blobs).

Anyway, I googled my problem a while back, and I found an article saying that it was normal for snakes not too p**p for a month or so, but, now, after doing further research, other sites say it can be a serious problem?

I also looked up some cures. I just fed him yesterday, so, once I'm able to handle him again, I plan to give him a warm bath, which is said to help.

Does anyone have any further information or advice? Is it usual, or an unhealthy occurrence, and do you think Winston (the snake) will be OK? I'd really appreciate all the help i can get =) Thank you! ~Bella

  1. Yeah, mine does that, too. It'll go before long.

  2. You're doing great so far! Just soak him in warm water for a while so it would loosen up his skin and he should p**p! All my snakes seems to have that problem once in a while so it's nothing to worry about, but if he doesn't p**p after 5-6 months, then I should be a little worry.

    Hope this could help!

Just wondering(cause of your name).....are you a Twilight Fan? =]
