  1. Thats actually a very good question. I have personally, been very interested with this type of information.

There are several "scientific parallels" between hinduism and science, compared to any other religion in the world (fact, I didn't make that up). If you want, I could give you some examples, if you email me.

For example, hindus new for thousands of years that there were nine planets, not including pluto and neptune. Recently, scientists have discovered 2 new planets. Hindus new the color, shape, and characteristic of every planet.

They also new that Earth was not the center of the universe, but it was the sun; heliocentric.

Not just planets, but also the laws of gravity, physics, newton's laws and genetics. The hindu vedas talk about chromsomes and even evolution.

Some people may consider "sun worshipping" and praying to planets as crazy, but just try to imagine how advanced the hindu civilization was with all the knowledge they new, thousands of years even before we did!

These "books" that you mention are not ordinary. The mahabaratha teaches morals and virtues, and also how to cope with mental problems around us. It shows it what our purpose us as a human and explains the secrets of life beyond death. You may not follow them, but even the greatest philosophers and scientists, including Aristotle, Plato, Eistein and Mark Twain were highly impressed reading the bhagavat gita and the vedas.

These books can teach us alot today, even though we are living in a kalyuga world of cheating and deception.

  2. Will You Please Stop Typing Every Word In A Sentence With A Capital Letter? It's Really Annoying!

Now, to answer your questions, the books are considered mythology because they use parables, fables, stories and other methods better suited to imparting information to people who lived in the past. Today we no longer need such stories to be spoon-fed information, so we can take the data more directly.

In a way, mythologies are like the stories you tell children to teach them about right and wrong. When they are older, you no longer have to couch the meanings in such simple terms. One of the major problems with our world today is that our civilizations have grown up, but refuse to let go of the fairy tales that comforted us in the past. The Bible, the Koran, the Bhagavad Gita were all meant for an audience that knew nothing of electricity, airplanes, outer space and the like. We don't need those outmoded relics from the past anymore.

  3. Only by the the westren people.

  4. That word, 'mythology' was coined by islamic clergy, at a time when islamic rulers were trying their best to subjugate hindu populace and convert everyone to islam. Their plan didnt work but they were sucessful in forever tarnishing our ancient historical documents as myths to the western world. When white men came to India, they further used it as their cunning tactic & went beyond it by declaring that aryans came from somewhere & settled in India. Nothing is farther from truth that that ridiculous lie. A lot of research done by Americans later on, in the last two decades and by Indians in the last decade revealed that aryan invasion theory is a load of bull c**p.

I grew up in a hindu household and we never viewed the granthas as anything else but our ancient histories. I know a lot of hindus also who see them as historical documents & not as myths. I have read ramayana & mahabharata (written by valmiki & Vyasa) and nothing in it ever gives you the impression that it is a fable or story. events were narrated as facts, that research is reaveling today to be true.
