I saw the movie, One Man's Hero (1998) and some television shows that have references to the war, but I wondered why Hollywood does not make a lot of movies on this time period, like  the Civil War (1861-1865) and the Revolutionary War (1775-1782).

  1. because the US-Mexican war didn't affect the whole country, whereby the Revolutionary war liberated the Americans and the Civil war freed the slaves. Texas, as you know was a country before it became a state- was not welcomed so much to the union. Andrew jackson himself hesitated with inviting it because of the issue of slave-state or not.  Most debates in the house at that time were about whether a state that gets into the union should be a slave state or not so as to balance the house. So my point is that the Mexican war wasn't quite a big deal(the Mexicans were weak at the time, what with their civil war) So i guess Hollywood doesn't glorify the so much because they weren't really fighting for their country but rather helping out the Texans-or rather the Americans who had gone to Mexico land.-unless your referring to something else

  2. Because it is was war started by crimials, after gaining their indepence from the Spain. Mexico military was weak after the defeat of Spainards, USA wanted all the West and Southwest, Mexico did want to sell the land. Mexico invited Americans to live in Texas, as Mexicans, they agreed. But when they arrived they called themselves Texans, did not respected the laws of Mexico. USA decide only acquire this land was find any reason to start War.Large Groups of Texans(Davy Crockett, Kit Carson,  John Bowie etc.) terrosize Texas, the law enforcement could control this large group the military was called. They were chase down, where they found a Catholic Mission called th Alamo, they took it over and use this as their fortess to battle Mexican Army. USA did want to help the Texans.

After the Texans were defeated, but it came with big prize of heavy losses of Mexican military. USA use as excuse the Americans  were killed, but how could this be true, they called themselves Texans not Americans. Mexico was protecting their country. Thus started the Mexican-American War. Forcing to sell Texas, Colorado, New Mexico. Arizona, Calfornia and Oregon at gunpoint in Mexico City. Guadalupe Hildago Treaty was signed giving rights to Mexicans citizens and land owners who lives in those states, but as soon as ink was dried the treaty was never honor.. Thus land stolen from Mexicans. ULYSESS GRANT AND ABRAHAM LINCOLN CALL IT UNJUST WAR WITH MEXICO. James Polk was the President of USA, most hated president during his term.

  3. The Mexican-American War was a fairly small and brief conflict. The events of the war remain obscure to the general public and it doesn't have an immortal place in the American psyche.

Most war movies are about World War II, and that makes sense because it was the most horrible war in history so it lends itself to dramatic retellings. There are also many Vietnam War movies because people love to see intense modern combat.

But you're right; I would love to see a movie about Mexican-American War, and other wars. (Not that I want less WWII films.. I just want more war movies in general).

  4. Not bloody enough

  5. Because that was a very insignificant war compared to many of the other wars America has fought in, and don't even know America went to war with Mexico.

  6. hollywood makes movies that people want to go see..its a business. so if the movies that you mentioned didnt make a lot of money, they wont make more...also, the revolutionary war (gettin independence) and the civil war (freeing slaves and keeping our country together) are subjects that most americans know of and deeply care about...not gaining texas and california, people just know that we have those states, they dont care how we got them.
