I am using wavepad and using my laptop to get some EVP's but i aint getting any.. I am using inbuilt microphone.. Well the quality is good as i Amplify the sound file by almost 600% to listen to everything clearly that has been recorded.

I live in India. Do Ghosts talk through EVP in USA only? Or does EVP's only exists in USA?

Am i doing anything wrong that i am not getting any EVP's?

Could you please tell me how to call Ghosts and ask them to produce EVP?

Thanks for your time everyone :)

  1. you need no special equipment to get an evp...I am truly surprised that someone that is from India would ask if ghost only talk in the Us.  Afterall, you come from a culture of reincarnation and spirits.  It is a beautiful culture and the religious beliefs there are wonderful and accepting.

What you should do is to go to places associated with paranormal activity.  Don't expect that everytime you go, you will get EVPs.  I have been on many hunts that had still pix evidence but no audio or video.  Its alot like fishing, you dont always catch something but you still had a good time.  Sometimes a quiet place and earphones help to hear since there are different classes(or grades) of evps.  You do not always hear words.  It could be a whistle, a moan,a laugh..you just never know.

You dont have to, but you can speak aloud and explain that you want to record them if they would care to talk or make a noise.

  2. Have you ever tried a good old fashioned tape recorder? Best of luck in your quest my friend. ;-)

  3. The most helpful and honest answer I can give you is that you're not getting any recordings because there is no reason to think that spirits of dead people make any kind of sound, or that such spirits even exist in the first place.

But if you are really into it, the guide below should help you.

  4. I would concur on several points - let me summarize. Firstly, it seems that so-called 'EVP' occurs in the presence of 'noise'. In an experiment I conducted years ago at NPR we tried to isolate such phenomena using broadcast-quality recording equipment and some of the best ears available. We used tapes supplied by a leading proponent of EVP as well as our own recordings. Nothing was heard until we disabled noise reduction on the recorder. No significant correlation was found among a test group of 10 audio engineeers.

As to language, I concur that it is likely you may need to be speaking in a language understandable to those who may be producing EVPs, if they indeed exist. I am reminded of a recent medium who was channeling suicides in general for a new book on the subject. She speaks only English. Many of those who spoke came through speaking Arabic. They were  suicide bombers. Intriguingly their messages differed little from their Western, English-speaking classic suicides. The point here is that language may or may not be barrier. If you haven't varied it, it might be worth trying.

Many will tell you it takes a long time to hear even the faintest EVP. This could be because conditioning is required. We hear what we need to hear. And suggestion as well as previous experiences have a great deal to do with auditory perception and what each individual accepts as artifact or EVP.

While I'm not convinced that the EVP is a useful way to interact with those deceased (I use what I believe are far more efficient means, including veridical mediumship), by all means attempt the experience if for no other reason than to form an opinion about it for yourself. Best of luck!

  5. Your equipment is probably too good. EVP's are electronic artifacts from poor recordings, natural ambient sounds, and the equipment itself. Then you need a lot of time and a lot of imagination to tease out some passage of sound that can be interpreted as speech. Of course, a lot of the EVPs on the Internet are hoaxes.

  6. Try using an external microphone next time.  Make sure to turn down the speaker volume on your laptop, in order to reduce as much background noise or feedback as possible.

Like the old saying goes:  If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.  It took me nearly a year before finally capturing an EVP using a small digital voice recorder.  I let someone else use the recorder that night, and we had gotten a lot of EVPs, most of them containing vulgar language and telling the investigator carrying the recorder to shut up when they started singing a Black-Eyed Peas song.  Try a small digital voice recorder instead of using your laptop.  They're easier to carry around with you, are fairly inexpensive, and some even have a USB port for easy upload to your laptop or desktop computer.

Sometimes spirits or ghosts may be "shy" around the investigators.  Keep going back to the same spot and they may "open up" to you.  Also spirits or ghosts tend to be "on the move" when in a location.  They move at a different pace than you or I do, so it's best to keep moving around while talking instead of standing in one place.  Carry the recorder with you.  This is why a lot of investigators will use small, hand-held recorders instead of setting up a large, stationary recorder like your laptop.

As far as ghosts or spirits being "shy", they may not be 100% shy of new people.  They may be more attracted to someone else other than you.  I have had a group of investigators with me, and we would all be in the same place.  One investigator may get more than I did, or anyone else.

If you still prefer to use your laptop, get an external microphone, preferably one with a long cord or a wireless microphone, and move about the site.  If you are using a corded microphone, be careful not to trip over it, or get wrapped up by it.  It might be best to spraypaint it a bright orange or yellow color, or wrap it with bright yellow or orange electrical tape, if possible.

As far as the language barrier goes:  Ghosts and spirits may only "speak" whatever language they knew when they were alive.  If you are asking questions in English, and getting no response, try to ask in Hindi or some other local language.  Likewise vice versa.  If you know any other languages well enough, try them.  Ask the same questions in various languages.

Some ghosts or spirits may be multilingual.  There was a documented case several years ago that was even featured on a few paranormal TV shows about a ghost or spirit who communicated through "ghost writing" in photographs.  Whenever a photograph was taken, the ghost would "write" a message.  Sometimes the messages were in English, other times they were in Latin.  Try different languages if you can.  If you have friends who can speak different languages, ask them to speak in those languages.

Sometimes the equipment itself can have an impact.  I know someone who has tested various models and brands of digital voice recorders, and have actually gotten different results when using all of them in the same location, in the same night.  Just because your laptop picked up nothing doesn't mean you won't.  Try a digital voice recorder of a different brand next time.  Buy a second one of a different brand from the first one.  Experiment a bit.  You might be pleasantly surprised.

  7. It may be that you're a little tense. Ghosts are very sensitive to that and if you are tense they'll be really quiet or might even leave. You need to be really relaxed, loose, and casual. Talk to them like you're talking to a friend. Tell them about your day, discuss the cricket match, and offer a high-five now and then. They'll start to relax and come around.

  8. "Do Ghosts talk through EVP in USA only? Or does EVP's only exists in USA?"

I think you may be on to something here.  EVPs are nothing more than auditory pareidolia.  (Check out the link below.)  If you did get an EVP in India, would it be in English (as if that's the standard language of ghosts) or would it be in one of the other languages present in the area?  I bet an English speaker would hear EVPs in English on all seven continents., even if the primary language wasn't English.  What does that tell you?

Seriously, watch the "investigators" when they discover EVPs.

Investigator: Is there anyone here who wants to talk?

    "Spirit": grbltacogrbl

Investigator (later): Did you hear that?  It said "taco"!

  9. There's a very simple answer.Ghosts do not exist. It's a silly childish person that thinks they do.

  10. Have you tried asking a question then leaving the room, leaving your laptop to record? A simple, "Is there anyone here who would like to talk?" is often all you need. Leave a fan or white noise maker running very softly in the background so you can clearly hear anything that might be recorded.

Also, try a simple tape recorder or even a digital recorder. That might help, too.

Good luck, and keep searching! You'll find something eventually.
