  1. First, there are no such things as ghosts so fear of them, in and of itself, is ignorance - or worse.  Second, the few instances when ignorance is beneficial is far out-weighed by being cognizant of what the h**l is going on.

  2. I think a certain amount of ignorance is necessary in living. I do not think we would be able to do anything at all if we sought absolute knowledge of every thing involved. Take the example of you question, for instance. You have asked the question even though you do not know if your definition and that of the other people answering the question, of the word ‘ignorance’, or that of the word ‘benefit’, is one and the same. I believe if we try to find the true meaning of each and every word we use, we would not be able to use any word whatsoever with any degree of confidence or accuracy at all. I think we would just fall through things trying to know them absolutely.

Then there is another use of ignorance, or the empty space in the mind, and that is we learn to have faith where we have no knowledge, and in whatever knowledge we might have. I see that people go out and about doing their daily business travelling on roads and through water and air, even though statistical facts are there to inform them, to warn them, that accidents happen, but that accurate statistical knowledge people learn to put aside, ignore, and even forget, in order to go ahead with the plans for their activities most happily and quite faithfully. What we do here is teach ourselves the skill of ignorance.  We all know that airplanes crash by our accurate knowledge, but we manage to believe in our heart that the plan we going to board would not.

This in my view is an instance of our need to have faith realised into our ability of faith. Life would not be possible without certain amount of faith involved in everything, and life would certainly be impossible if we knew it all beforehand, or kept if we leant to keep in our mind all the time all that we knew.

  3. lol....that's funny. ghost? cool...

  4. Because we are prone to stress caused by our own imagination. There is a phrase in portuguese: "O que os olhos nao veem, o coracao nao sente." It could be translate as "what the eyes don't see, the heart doesn't feel." When we were young kids we had no knowledge of the world and we  were happy. But our curiosity leads to knowledge and then, fear. Not that fear is unavoidable, though.

  5. "KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT ACTION IS INSANITY AND ACTION WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE IS VANITY"

  6. Quite a weird analogy but nevertheless, ignorance is bliss sometimes. You are right

  7. The more you know, the more it hurts.

    Ignorance is as such:

You are a child sitting at a play. You do not know the plot or structure or elements of the play. This unknowing (or "ignorance") produces a degree of hope, anticipation, and enjoyment in the play.

However, let's say you knew everything their was to know about the play: the protagonist, antagonist, plot line, etc., and let's say you could recite it word-for-word by memory if you had to... could you tolerate the play? You would be driven mad having to endure this play if it was a life long.

If man knew truth in its absolute and crude form, all would be doomed to insanity or suicide.
