because they want to give priority for the young Indian cricketers who can use this tournament to gain experience through plying with top level cricketers

Co's if they will allow more than 4 international players, no team will give chance to other Indian players and they will walk away to the ICL, so to prevent them walking away from BCCI, they have to force teams to purchase local players.

Other reason is, that young Indian players will get good experience before playing international cricket and it will train them before they secure place in international game.

That will help Indian cricket team in future.

its SUPPOSED to be a domestic thing. they shouldn't allow ANY international players but instead the greedy BCCI is trying to hoard as much money as they can from the unsuspecting indian populace and all the worldwide dish owners who are also cricket fans.

By not allowing more than 4 international players in each team, BCCI has made a provision for the talented Indian youngsters to come forth, and show their skill and talent. The objective is to promote Indian cricket and search for new talents, which may otherwise go unnoticed. If they had allowed more than 4 international players in each team, then all the international players would surely have joined IPL, because of the interest of profit. Then, the Indian players wouldn't get a chance, and the real objective wouldn't be fulfilled.

Asper rule framed by IPL, team composition of IPL will be as follows:

Total squad strength of 16 players plus one physio and a coach

No more than 8 foreign players in the squad and at most 4 in the playing XI

A minimum of 4 local players must be included in each team

Not less than 4 players from the BCCI under-22 pool in each team
