  1. We should walk and should be less dependent on oil. Cycle should be praised.

  2. Its economy has grown, therefore affording many more people the opportunity to buy cars. WIth a billion ppl, thats ALOT of oil.

  3. Large population is the main reason and every one prefer to travel by their own vehicles ( Automobile manufacturing units are increasing day by day )

  4. Has nothing to do with India. China has far more people and they're using oil, too.

The problem is primarily here in the USA. We've built ONE new refinery in the past thirty years, which has us near peak capacity for gasoline. Our high oil prices come from our do-nothing Democrat congress, who refuse to open oil exploration off our east and west coasts, and in ANWR. They also just "re-refused" to allow oil shale production in Colorado.

  5. how much oil does India consume?

and how much oil does the U.S. consume?

and how much oil does China consume?

and how much oil do you consume?

the answers to the above, divided by the population of the respective countries (and in your case, multiplied by 20 or more, since i'm sure you have lead-footed friends and relatives with large, gas-guzzling cars), would offer at least a peek at the correct answer to your question.

and if you still have some nagging uncertainty about it all, perhaps you could write to your congressman and senator to support the nuclear deal between the U.S. and India in order that India may replace some of its oil usage with nuclear power. what do you think? sound reasonable?

  6. India and China are  the largest consumers of oil. Imagine the billions of people  living there and around the globe..
