India's record at home:-

1993-2003(Aug) - 20 wins/8 losses in 40 matches

Aug 2003 - Aug 2008 - 8 wins/5 losses in 23 matches.

Is it India slowly losing edge or other teams improving in Indian Conditions. It can be seen That As India is improving in abroad it is slowly declining at home.

  1. I wouldn't worry about India's fortunes. Of course other teams are getting better but don't forget that there are a number of senior players in the side who are now looking at moving on. Like with all things, the new will come through until they are the old for the new to come through again. So Grasshopper, do not despair.

  2. I don't think that gives true reflection, a team which has improved in outside conditions over this time hasn't gone into as much serious dump as you have highlighted here, lets see it another way-

    Against Aus--

India won 1, lost 2, drawn 1 (not bad)

    against Eng--

    India won 1, lost 1, drawn 1 (equal-good series-England's a good test side)

    against NZ--

India won 0, lost 0, drawn 2 (if you remeber that series it was totally batsmen dominant due to dead pitches)

    against Pak--

India won 2, lost 1, drawn 3 (India ahead)

    against SA--

India won 2, lost 1, drawn 2 (India ahead)

    agaisnt SL--

India won 2, lost 0, drawn 1 (India ahead)

I hope this wouldn't look as bad to you!

EDIT- wow, look at the thumbs down. Am I wrong!! go check India's stats from Aug 2003 to Aug 2008 against each of these teams & confirm yourself!

  3. Shailesh, i hope you put the India's overseas record also since last 10 years and you will notice that Indian team has done well abroad , i would say as the other teams have adapted to Indian conditions , our team has also adapted to overseas conditions and produced some technically fine batsmen but there are some teams like Ban, SL who have a poor record overseas inspite of being given exposure at pacy wickets, this is the reason they are considered as minnows of world cricket because they can perform only at home in the real test which is test cricket, i 'm really sorry to say India lost to an inferior quality team just due to some bad umpiring LBW decisons planted against Fab4 and injuries in the ultimate test and i fully understand the psyche of umpires behind this kinda behavior due to review system proposed to ICC by Indians, if you were in their place , you would behave the same way, i would also not like to be counter questioned, if i'm the judge at the field and India suffered the consequences getting Fab4 being robbed time and again with LBWs ~

    good Q!

    hope this helps!

    god bless!

    best wishes!

  4. India have got some old players who are simply not playing very well who I think that need to retire.

  5. 1) Appointment of foreign coaches-i somehow feel that they want India to lose at home. Sack them

    2) Bad wickets not friendly for Indian type of spinners- I remember the Nagpur wicket in 2004 test series against Australia it was a wicket more favorable for the opponent-we lost that home series against Australia.

    3) We were also giving too much exposure for their team on Indian wickets-Australia never gives too much exposure of its pitches to indian team touring their country. Before the first match starts very few practice games are kept. All methodical ways of winning a series

    4) Lack of  a spin foundation analogous to MRF pace academy-youngster are over-encouraged to take up pace bowling more than spin under the reason that we have to fare well on abroad wickets. It seems that the youngsters are also encouraged to bat more against pace bowling. Currently we dont have any young quality spinner or a young quality batsman against spin. We cannot rely on the oldies-Sachin,Dravid, Ganguly and Kumble

    4) Failure to utilize the experience of our past quality spinners like Prasanna, Chandra, Venkat, Bedi, Ramu Parkar,Gupte and also that of  our past best spin playing bastmen like Azhar, Gavaskar, Vishy, Wadekar,Sidhu and many more

    5) Why has Australia not lost a test series on their home grounds in the last decade? Whenever any opponent comes, Aussies make a wicket which fully exploits the opponent's weakness. The Aussie players are taught to skill fully get the umpires's decisions in their favour. One major change in the last five years is that even on home grounds, we have neutral umpires.

    6) The first thing is not to lose a single test series at home and then comes winning abroad.Every Indian team must have the goal-Tigers at home and unfortunately this is not the case with the current team

  6. too much pressure at home.....
