  1. The reason why dogs are easier to train than cats is because dogs are used to living in a rigid pack formation where they abide by rules given by a pack leader. As dogs have been domesticated for thousands of years, they generally regard the human figure as a pack leader, and are willing to abide by instructions given by humans. Cats, however, are solitary animals who have become used to deciding on how they live/controlling their own lives without any intervention from anyone. Therefore, they are not used to human instruction and are harder to train than dogs.

  2. cats are far too independent to be trained easily whereas a dog is a more friendly animal and will want to please its owner

  3. Its actually quite easy to train a cat, and many people have cats that do tricks, and there are even organized cat agility course events, similar to a dogs agility course.

Its really unfortunate that people still believe that cats are untrainable, because house cats tend to be a bit bored, fat, and in need of something stimulating to do.
