Why Is Los Angeles Overhyped?

It looks nice and the weather is amazing, but beyond the beautiful exterior it has smog, HORRIBLE traffic, it's dirty, overcrowded and it has the highest amount of illegal immigrants of any city, the people there are superficial and materialistic. And I know the residents there love to pretend it's expensive but it's really not. Even Toronto is slightly more expensive (if you don't believe me, check the source at the bottom) than LA.

What's the appeal of Los Angeles? It's one of the lowest rated cities (check second source).

Los Angeles is the biggest metro area in the nation, and 18 million people live there, so think big, go LA.

Los Angeles has sunny warm weather and virtually no significant rainfall. We love California sunshine

Los Angeles has handsome mountains and laid back beaches in the north and west side of the metro with some most beautiful community Beverly hills, Bel Air, Malibu.. if you can afford it, you sit next to film stars, NBA stars, high level politicians...

Los Angeles has huge amounts of Latinos , they account for  half of population , huge service labours offer most affordable and convenient llife in California.

Los Angeles has been the "epicenter" of American show business so long that for decades it has been flooded with the best-looking aspiring actors & actresses from all over the world; since they cannot all be stars, they stay there, work regular jobs, marry each other, and have better-looking children than anywhere else.  For people that like that sort of thing, it's the sort of thing they like...

Well maybe your in the wrong side of town.Not all of LA is dirty and crowded and who in there right mind would compare Canada to LA.

LA has it's good parts too but because I also don't like the dirty parts I live in Orange County!!!

Los Angeles is a huge county. Tell me what big city with that big of a population doesn't have its dirty parts or seedy areas. There are more beautiful areas, however. As the film industry's home, Los Angeles has become home to many celebrities making its real estate all the more valuable. There's great shopping and services all around. It's a melting pot of all nationalities and cultures. L.A. is also known for it's great weather year-round, allowing people to enjoy its beautiful beaches. On that same note, we have nearby mountain resorts where we can enjoy snow in the winter. Hey, I could go on. For those who want all this and more, we're willing to pay the higher cost of living. Yes, the cost of living really is high here....who on earth would want to pretend that? That's absurd. And how could you possibly say that something is "overhyped" if you haven't experienced it yourself? That's like telling someone you empathize with him/her and you've nowhere near experienced what they are going through. Maybe if you actually try living there you'd end up contributing to all the hype! ;-) Hope you change your mind.
