Why Is My Computer Turning On Automatically?

Ive noticed this happening alot on my grandmas computer. She has a dell, pretty new. It has AT&T Broadband DSL, the modem is Westell, if that helps any bit. For some reason when you turn the modem back on, it turns the computer on as well! Its so weird. Even if you turn the computer off, unplug the ethernet cord and then plug it back in, it turns on.

why is this happening?

my computer does something like this too, to turn on my computer all I have to do is press any key on the keyboard or a button on my mouse, my nieces want me to set up their computer to turn on via the keyboard too,but I have no idea why my computer turns on from my keyboard in the first place,try pressing a key on your grannies keyboard and see if it starts up the computer
