Why Is My Intex Pool Water Cloudy?

I have a 12' x 36" Intex Easy Set Up Pool.....We just got it About a Month ago and When we filled it the first time we added algaecide....PH ....Chlorine Tabs and Shock...It was Clear and all Levels were great except I had to add the chlorine tabs into the dispenser every now and again.....Yesterday I forgot to plug in the pool and when I woke I noticed the water was cloudy...So I checked The Filter which was Red for some reason and put a new one in. The test said I needed Chlorine so I added a few Tabs......I also Added Shock...Will This work? If so How long does it take for it to clear? Would anyone know why my filter is Red?

sounds like your ph is too high (red filter) and the cloudiness can mean you're going to get an algae problem ....although it may not lol... we had the same problem. You can buy this liquid that will clear the water.... not sure what its called but they sell it with the rest of the supplies... keep an eye on any sign of green growth on the bottom or sides of your pool, that'd be the dreaded algae

I have the same size steel framed Intex pool and my pool filters are always Brown?red when I clean them.  I have to clean them daily we get alot of tree droppings. I usually shock at night and cloudiness is gone by morning. I change my filter weekly and clean it daily.

I use the heavier shock once a week and whenever it needs a shock inbetween I use SWIM AND SHOCK doesn't have as much chlorine in it and can use it anytime of the day.

Never use those dumb test strips actually do the water test.  I don't know how many time those strips gives a perfect reading and I restest it and its way off and then have the pool store double check me.

So use a new filter, vacuum debris and shock it!

I used to have the same pool, but now i have an inground pool. My dad takes a sample of our water and takes it to a local pool store. they take a look at the sample and tell you what to do and give you chemicals to get the pH just righr in a couple of days.
