i removed it from my computer a while ago (4 months at the most) and i obviously havent touched it since. now i want to play it again but it doesnt work. i put the CD in and nothing happens. i still have the sims 2 icon in the start panel so i put the CD in and clicked the sims 2 icon but then it says "no disk was found" or something like that. i keep hitting the retry button but it doesnt work! the only thing i can think of is maybe the CD is damaged, but it looks fine to me :/

  1. There is a very easy explanation for this.

1st, delete everything on your computer that has to do with the sims (desktop buttons, anything in the C drive, etc)

1nd, put in the cd, if nothing appears like you were saying, do the following

Start> My computer> Double click your CD drive (listed either as drive F: or drive E:, depending on your partition)

This should run the install menu. Install it.

    Last step: enjoy your game

  2. when u removed it do u mean u uninstalled it?

if no then try uninstalling it then reinstalling it, go to start, all programs and ea games etc and theres an option in there

if u did uninstall it and the disk isnt detected then mayb theres something wrong with ur cd computer thing, does it detect other disks?

if this has been no help then i would suggest asking a computer genious, theres loads of them in computer stores etc they probably hav the answer

  3. Depending on how many times you have installed The Sims 2 in the past, you could have reached the limit of installs for your cd. EA security codes their cds so that they can only download a certain number of times before they cease to work on install. Before the latest expansion, Apartment Life, the number was higher, but from now on it will be only three times.

  4. If the icon is in the start menu it won't be pointed at anything if you uninstalled the game properly. To read more about making sure the game was completely uninstalled, read here: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title...

The Sims 2 media does not (yet anyway) have an installation limit. This was proposed for other, new EA Games titles.  And please don't mess with the registry editor unless you have a good understanding of what you can safely change, or good step by step instructions.  You can easily break your Windows installation by editing the wrong thing.

This sounds more like CD/DVD drive problem.

    Check the following:

    - If it is a CD, that it is the first of the four discs

    - If it is the DVD version, check that your drive reads both DVDs and CDs and not just CDs

    - try other DVD and CDs to make sure it's not the drive

    - make sure that the drive tray and the disc are both clean

Right click the drive and Explore.  In the drive run the Autorun or setup file to see if that works.

EDIT:  I just ran into this same problem myself last night when answering someone else's question about being unable to install Seasons.

The solution for me was to reboot my machine. It seems silly, but it worked.
