Why Japanese still say they are Pure race, when many or at least Celebrities there are mixed?

All the time when i meet japanese, they say they are pure Japanese. As if japanese was a single race.

Well i've noticed many Celebrities in japan are mixed.

and i know many Japanese intermarry because there has been an increaese of foreigners going there.

why they keep denying that they are not pure?

Their is no such thing as a pure race any more, all races have inter mixed with others.

1. Japanese isn't a race. The Japanese is a nationality and heritage designation, and are East Asians. East Asians are the "Mongoloid" race. There are various ethnic groups in Japan such as Ainu Aborigines, Ryukyuian, etc

2. Most Japanese people are actually descendants of migrants from China and Korea. The native Japanese Aborigines comprise of only a small percentage of the population.

So the Japanese ethnic group(s) never pure in the first place. Actually, that can be applied to any ethnic group(s).

40,000+ years of mixing since Out of Africa and you can say that vast majority of the human population is mixed.

They're confusing the term 'race' with culture and heritage. The Japanese heritage is isolated and 'relatively' pure as in no foreign influences. But those who insist they are 'pure breeds' are most like the Japanese far right fascists.

I accept your quotation,"they say they are pure Japanese".

But I don't agree about the part " As if japanese was a single race"

Because I know nobody who calls themselves "Japanese race".

They call themselves "Japanese people" as a national of Japan.

Most of them learn People from China and Korea came to Japan and gave many big influence on them, as a whole on Japan.  

When they say they are pure Japanese, it only means BOTH OF THEIR PARENTS ARE JAPANESE.

I think they don't think so severely as you do.
