I just found out that...

(Usually, a month has 31 days when the previous month has 30 days, except February)

Any reasons?

  1. Remember the poem:

30 days hath September, April June & November

All the rest have 31, save February alone

which has 28, except when leap year gives it 29!

  2. It goes back to Roman days.  Back then the calendar was pretty messed up-- it didn't syncronize with the sun, moon, or seasons.

The Senate could legally change the calendar.  They did this when Julius (July) and Augustus (August) were the top dog.

  3. Because then if you do the knuckle trick to find out how many days each month has, it wouldn't work.

**knuckle trick: using your knuckles and saying each month to see how many days a month has.  the up knuckles have 31, the in between spaces have 30.

    lol

  4. So the year will add up to 365 days.

  5. Well its because of Gaius Iulius Caesar and Caesar Augustus!!! Augustus wanted his month to have 31 days just like  July-the month of Caesar. He wanted this 6th month to be August because of Cleopatra`s death! Augustus took two days from February and gave it to August!

    August means "divine".

    Hope this helps! ^ ^

  6. There was once an Italian named Julius Ceaser. He had an adopted son named Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus (later became Emperor Augustus).

Julius wanted a month named after him (hence, July) and that month naturally had 31 days.

Augustus, his son, also wanted a month named after him (hence, August) and that naturally had 30 days.

Augustus felt jealous that his month had one day less than his father's, so he ordered that the month August should have 31 days as well.

    And, that was that!

    ^_^

    Well...that's what I heard at least...>>
