Many people will say that the Tiger is the best and most feared predator, but I disagree with that. Just because Tigers hunt alone doesn't make them the best predators out there, I like to see predators hunting in a group and here is a fantastic video to show you;

It doesn't come much bigger than killing the biggest land animal on earth!

  1. Lions don't live in the jungle.  They are savannah animals.

  2. In previous ages putting different animals into cages and forcing them to fight was regarded as sport. If you look hard enough there is some observations of such fights.

    They're not really indicative of nature though. As has been pointed out previously, lions and tigers have different habitats and wouldn't normally come into contact, but of the 2 fights that have been observed, I believe the lion won. There are various factors, but as an example, the tiger likes to get a 'kill grip' round the neck of it's prey, but the thick mane of a male lion would hinder this.

    There's also a lot of 'anecdotal' evidence out there. I remember once reading an interview with an old circus 'lion' trainer, he thought a fight between a lion and a tiger was probably 50/50.

  3. Lions are not found in jungles or forests, but in plains areas and open grassland.  There are some lions that can live among trees (Manyara, Aftica), but most are in the grassland.

  4. It's usually the girls getting dinner, great stuff

  5. The only reason why lions are considered the king of the jungle is because they have the mane.

    There is no hierarchy in nature.

    Tigers are normally bigger than lions, but they would probably avoid each other if they could. The only time they might fight is over food.

  6. Whilst I agree with you that lions are remarkable predators, the title King of the Jungle is rather inappropriate. The vast majority of lions live on the open savannahs of Africa, not in jungles. The only lions outside this habitat and continent are the small population of Asiatic lions in the Gir Forest of India. The tiger, which is the largest of all cats and does live in jungles, is probably more deserving of the title King of the Jungle, whilst the lion is better described as the King of Beasts.

  7. actually, the biggest land mammal is the giant red desert turtle, its roughly 16ft by 38 ft , but i see where youre coming from. maybe its because of there manes. ity can be very intimidating for other animals, knowing you cant do your hair quite as good as ' that lion guy round the corner'...:D
