Why Los Angeles Kings Will Win the Stanley Cup Post-Lockout Season –NHL Special
2012 was a huge year for the Los Angeles Kings and the best they have ever had as the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise brought home the Stanley Cup championship for the very first time in history.
The entire Kings line-up was rapturous over how they became the first ever in the Kings history to finally put their name on the most coveted prize in the hockey world, but that did not come easily.
''Every single guy worked so hard for us this season,'' said defenseman Drew Doughty after winning the championship. ''Everyone deserves this. We got used to each other, we developed a chemistry, and we just went sailing from there.''
''You never know. You get to the dance, you never know what's going to happen,'' Kings’ captain Dustin Brown said. ''We calmed down after losing two. It was the first time we had done that all playoffs, and we finally got off to a good start.''
Ending the regular season as the eighth team in the Western Conference and going up against the Vancouver Canucks in the postseason was seen as something extremely difficult. For one, the Kings had never been in the Finals and Vancouver was coming right
out of that. But a little hard work and dedication got them through that, past the top Pacific Division team in the Western Conference Finals and down with the New Jersey Devils of the East to bring it all home.
What the Kings had was an extremely well rounded line-up consisting of a top level goalie, Jonathan Quick, and some of the best players in the game like Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter, Drew Doughty, Simon Gagne and Justin Williams. What makes them
top level contenders for the next hockey season, whenever that does kick off keeping the lockout in view, is the fact that they are all still together and the wait for LA to get back on the ice and kick some hockey butt has never been stronger.
Becoming Stanley Cup champions was one thing, but showing that ranking does not matter when it comes to playing in the playoffs was another as they also became the first ever in NHL history to just clean sweep everything despite having ended barely above
the playoff contention line.
The Los Angeles Kings had a great run and seeing them doing it again should not be surprising for anyone.
