Why Los Angeles Kings will eliminate St. Louis Blues in Game 4 –NHL Playoffs Special
Los Angeles Kings have definitely come a long way. From being the underdog team coming into the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs, to now dominating a team like St. Louis Blues and being just one game away from moving on into the Western Conference Finals.
Kings have proved that not being the favourites does not mean that they cannot win a series but rather, they just might whitewash the opposition to set a new standard in the league and a new definition to the word “underdog”.
Now, as St. Louis Blues stand on the edge of being eliminated as they are down 3-0 in the semi-final series against Los Angeles and with Kings seeming to get better with each passing day, there is no telling how far they might go this year.
"They're full marks," St. Louis coach, Ken Hitchcock, said about the Los Angeles Kings. "They're on top of their game, and they have been for a while now."
Seeing the Kings play with such confidence and discipline was not something you would see in the regular season but as Los Angeles realised that they could easily down team like Vancouver Canucks in just five games, nothing is impossible now.
"Things are going well because guys are working hard," said Justin Williams after Game 3 "Guys are paying the price and doing every little thing. We're certainly not looking ahead just yet, but we've fought hard to get this position, and now we're one game away from getting to the conference championship."
Here are a few reasons why Los Angeles Kings will eliminate St. Louis Blues come Game 4 on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the STAPLES Center.
Confidence
Los Angeles is just playing that game of being limitless. They have no boundaries and are up so high that bringing them down right now just is not possible.
The level of confidence the Kings have gained over these past few games including having lost just once at home and being perfect on the road just makes things better. Heck, Los Angeles just might give up a game at home on their own like they did with Vancouver and head back to the Scottrade Center in St. Louis to embarrass the home team there.
Jonathan Quick
It is not easy saying it but St. Louis’ goalie, Brian Elliott, and the best at the end of the regular season, has finally choked against Los Angeles. He has let in 12 goals in the past three games alone while Los Angeles’ goalie, Jonathan Quick, has let in less than half at just five.
Quick’s outstanding goaltending has also been a major factor to Los Angeles getting this far as the forward players can focus more on scoring goals instead of worrying about who is covering the net.
Conclusion
Los Angeles Kings are getting contributions from all of their players right now. From Justin Williams to Dwight King, all players are potting points and rising up to the occasion when needed. Los Angeles Kings will most likely take Game 4 in a perfect series to head into the Western Conference Finals.
