Why Los Angeles Kings will win the Stanley Cup in Game 6 against New Jersey Devils -NHL Special
Los Angeles Kings have come a long way in the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs and have already been named the best eighth seed in history to play in the postseason.
Losing the Stanley Cup Finals to New Jersey Devils would be a mistake with severe consequences as they would not only face intense criticism for choking but become the first team in major league history to give up the cup after a 3-0 lead in the series.
Having lost two consecutive games to the Devils now, Los Angeles fans and players are definitely frustrated but will the Kings be able to bounce back and win the cup at home or will New Jersey force a Game 7 competition back at the Prudential Center in Newark.
Devils have worked hard to get to where they are today by fighting of Kings in two elimination matchups and playing on foreign ice has not made a significant difference in the series so far so practically, Game 6 is still anyone’s game.
"We're still alive, so we have a chance," Devils goalie, Martin Brodeur, said. "It's a difficult thing to get yourself ready for games like that. Now it's been two in a row. It drains you a lot. It takes a lot out of you. But, it's worth it."
Eliminating 2011 Stanley Cup finalists, Vancouver Canucks in just five games, sweeping second seeded St. Louis Blues in a clean four-game series and then routing Phoenix Coyotes in the Western Conference Finals, Los Angeles has worked hard and cannot give
up now in any case.
"It's the time of the year, you're going to lose games, you're going to win games," Kings’ goalkeeper, Jonathan Quick, said. "It's the same as after we swept St. Louis, same as after we beat them three in a row. You stay right here, you don't get here, you
don't get there."
There is a very small window of opportunity for New Jersey that they might win and take the Stanley Cup, but Los Angeles overall is just too good of a team to lose the next two. They will certainly be taking the next game as whether they would be on the
brink of elimination and give it their all in order to march down the streets of Downtown Los Angeles with the Stanley Cup.
This is the time to make history and become the first Kings squad to win a Stanley Cup for Los Angeles and bring hockey back.
Game 6 kicks off on Monday, June 11, at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California.
