I mean, he's a good fighter but...i don't know, i just think that is not a good thing if you have a record of 13 wins and no losses, but 8 of those wins are by decision, i mean don't get me wrong, a win is a win but it makes me wonder why a guy who has beaten so many great fighters just can't finish his opponents.

  1. He just isnt aggressive enough. Honestly, he picks his shots too wisely. Thats why I want to see him fight W. Silva. Wandy's aggressive style vs. Machida's technical shots.

  2. Thats ok...like you said...a win is a win.  There are a lot of people that think his fighting style is boring, but in fact it is very effective.  He gets in a lot of strikes without taking any.  I think everyones minds will change after he becomes the next lightheavyweight champion.

  3. he is clever.  he exploits the natural tendancy of a fighter to pursue an opponent who does nothing but back up.

lyoto knows his opponent will chase him and picks them apart with counter punches.

i think the strategy to beat him might be not to chase him, but to take the center of the  octagon and not follow, forcing him to stand in the middle and fight.  make him put his weight on his front foot.

lyoto knows if he comes forward it will increase the chances that he will be taken down and he is much more vulnerable on the mat.

but if he can get guys to keep chasing him around the way they do, he will be champ before long.

  4. Everyone is different. And yeah the point is to win. He just knows how to do it. I think he's pretty crafty and smart. He studies his opponent's weakness and exploits it well.

  5. His style just isn't an aggressive one.  His gameplan is working for him so far. Maybe he is afraid that if he presses his opponents for a finish, he will be vulnerable for a counter, which is a legitimate concern. Not every fighter is out there to produce a highlight-reel K.O. or submission. Marched lets the game come to him, and it works. I would still love to see what an aggressive headhunter like Liddell or W. Silva would do against Machida.
