Why MLS-game overlap with U.S. Men's NT game?

Question

The U.S. men's national team plays Guatemala on Wednesday night at 10 p.m. ET.

And the MLS, which usually has no games on Wednesdays, suddenly has two scheduled (D.C. at New England, and Chivas at Houston).

Seems stupid. Would other countries do this?

We've had this problem before. The league cares nothing for the National team.

Maybe there's more to it than meets the eye?

yeah mls is pretty stupid. they never pay attention to the FIFA dates.
