  1. It's considered disrespectful to a superior and you are breaking your bearing by not keeping your eyes straight to the front with the "100 yard stare" going on. The worse a DI reacts to your infraction the more likely it is that you're going to remember that lesson...a lesson you must have caught or you wouldn't be asking.


  2. Don't you be "EYE-BALLING" me BOY !!! Not recommended for ANY drill Sergeant in ANYYYY branch of the military. Be sure to look above the D.I.'s head or at his chest when speaking to them directly.

    Otherwise...you could be doing push-ups until senset.

  3. I think it is a combination of the above but mostly i think it relates back to drill. You cant look around in formation, (a hard habit to break) and tearing you a new one all the time engraves that into you. Same with the whole touching your face thing.
