Why Mexican families have so many kids?

i live in a predominately Mexican community. i've noticed:

1. they all got married fairly early, like early 20s and some like 18, 19.

2. all families on my street has at least 3 kids, and lots of dogs.

3. they all work very hard, i can tell it is very difficult life for them cause i see a lot of split unit houses, multi-family live under one roof.

my question is - is there a reason or reasons they must have so many kids? is it because of the religious teaching? or just their tradition?

A lot of non-American cultures still believe that people are their most important resource.

I've always understood why I come from a small falmily and I've always envied the large ones.

Yeah Matt, you don't have any idea what your talking about. The Highest percentage of welfare recipients are black. Always has been. The least is Latinos. Latinos have multiple babies not multiple baby daddy's.

Uh, well, I don't know either, but perhaps it has to do with the fact that many Mexicans are Roman Catholics. It's been my experience/observation that Catholics generally tend to have large families (Went to predominantly white Catholic schools for 14 years, and at my high school, many of the Catholic students had at the very least 2 siblings). Of course, not all Mexican families are large; you happen to be in a community where the families are bigger than what is perceived as 'normal'.

no they dont the most they have is  3 kids average. and mexicans are half native indian and usually part black and philipino they just like big families

I know exactly what you are saying and IT'S NOT RACIST QUESTION!! Anyway some of them do have alot of children, because most of them are catholic. And for some of them its cheaper to live together as multi-family unit. Now about the dogs maybe they just love animals I don't know.
