  1. I think its the whole win loss thing it takes one game to win a world cup ( yes i know you have to beat the other teams in prelims - semis etc but  So Does The Grand Final Loser)

So the all blacks  win the vast majority fo their games week in week out, every year.

They better watch the wallabies though

  2. because the all blacks ... they are the ****. hands down.

and who else does a haka?

  3. omg im so sik of people saying the all blacks choke wenever we lose yous call us sore losers bcoz we complain nd wen we actually do admit tht we were outplayed on the day yous say we choke? jus more sore losers nd ull actually find that in nz there are more registerd soccer players than there r rugby players hows tht for a fact?

  4. The all blacks always find the best form coming into world cup and then are struck down in the semi's

  5. im no big fan of the all blacks,as they are our arch rival and an underdog they are not, when you have a whole country who obsessed with rugby as opposed to Australia who really only has 2 states that produce rugby players then id say we are more of an under dog than the rugby obsessed kiwi's,saying that i do respect how well the all blacks play.

true damian, but  league rules, not union like in N.Z who has 4 million union fanatics

  6. Because a team wins the RWC twice,  doesn`t make that team the most popular one. England could win it 10 times, and I`d bet they would be the most UNpopular team.

The All Blacks are the most popular team, because they play the style of Rugby that they do,and that, makes them popular with Rugby followers..

And...Slipper, after this Cup, we too can say...we have won it twice.

  7. Because NZ and Aus have played 128 tests and Australia have only won 38 of those tests. NZ has 8 tri-nation championships, Aus and RSA only have 2 each !

And FORKY - whats the population of NZ mate ? - There are more people living in Sydney.

  8. I would not call the All Blacks the underdog in any tournament they compete in. They have been the most consistent side for many years and have plenty of strength and talent to take the place of retiring players when their team rebuilds happen. I have utmost respect for the AB's but of course am a Wallaby fan all the way!!

  9. B/C they are the ALL BLACKS.  Their pregame chant is legendary and cool.  They play great and with a lot of heart.  Plus the population of the country is a fraction of Australia.  People like the underdog!!!

Edit:  Hey Roone, I was saying underdog because NZ is a small country going against much larger countries. ..(population wise).  I know that the all black are great.  And I know that they are favored in ever match they play, but it is still a great wonder that they have so many great players from such a small country.  In that light, they are a small country contending on a world stage and dominating.  Thus a story of an underdog.  You would think that sooner or later a larger country would produce a better team or that NZ  would fall off at some point, but they don't.  It's underdog in a not so literal term.

  10. The reason the AB's are the most popular rugby team in the world is because of the way they have historically performed at international level (they are the most successful team in history), the way they play the game, (utilising pace, skill and power), and the manner in which they have historically behaved off the field.

Even given that Australia have won the RWC twice the All Blacks are arguably the most successful team at RWC having played in the semifinals at every tournament and twice in the final.

  11. Doughy, you goose.  How can you say the All Blacks are the most successful team in RWC.  Man, we have won the final twice - Wallabies = 2 world cups.  That is success man, just making the finals (and then choking) is not not enough.  You have to win it (we did, twice.....)

Joeblow - Doughy said "arguably most successful", that was what I responded to.  If he kept it as 'popular' I would not have much to argue.  When I visited En Zed they were showing the Waikato -v- Karparangi under 11B Rugby Grand Final on TV - the kiwis just love their rugby.

  12. It all has to do with the style of play.

Its like Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Barcelona is more popular because of the style of play even though Real is more successful.

    Doughy

You mean the All Blacks have failed more then anyone else.

They have been in all the semifinals and yet they won it once.
