Why New Jersey Devils continue to struggle in Stanley Cup Final against Los Angeles Kings -NHL Special
What has turned out to be the most surprising part of this year’s National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs is the fact that New Jersey Devils, overall as a team, have choked to the point of no return as Los Angeles Kings gear up to eliminate them
in Game 4.
Devils should some resilience after nearly taking Kings down in Game 2 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, but fell even harder with a 4-0 shutout in Los Angeles for the following matchup.
It is shocking to see how such a talented club consisting of members such as Zach Parise, Ilya Kovalchuk and Martin Brodeur, has not been able to find their ground in the series, but it could also be termed to the fact that Los Angeles is just having a remarkable
time.
Nevertheless, New Jersey Devils are still confident of rebounding, but they only have one game left to prove that on the schedule.
"We're not going to quit until someone's won a fourth game," Devils captain, Zach Parise, said. "We've got to win four straight, so our approach is just to win the next one. That's all we can do. We'll try to be at our best the next game and start from there."
Frustration has been one thing that has taken Devils down. Parise described the situation after the unforgiving shutout loss in the first game in Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center.
"During the game we were frustrated. We felt like we liked the way we were playing and we thought we were going to get one. It just didn't happen," Parise said. "It's frustrating when everyone's been playing well and we find ourselves down 3-0 in the Cup
finals."
Martin Brodeur cannot be termed to be playing that bad, but he certainly is not playing as well as Jonathan Quick of Los Angeles. One reason for that is the Kings defensemen are certainly playing their part and it has shown in the end as Quick faces the
least amount of shots.
Ilya Kovalchuk and Zach Parise, New Jersey’s scoring leaders, have not been able to make any major impact for the team and continue to struggle in getting anywhere near the net. Kings forwards on the other hand are just playing amazingly well in sync and
topple Brodeur on any opportunity they get.
Game 4 is right around the corner as it is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6 in Los Angeles, which should definitely be an exciting one to watch and see whether Devils will actually force a Game 5 or just lost it all.
