Why New York Rangers will eliminate Washington Capitals in Game 7 –NHL Playoffs Special
The New York Rangers and Washington Capitals series was never expected to end early and now with both teams on the brink of entering Game 7, the contest is expected to be intense in every sense of the word.
For fans of the Blue Shirts, New York is the team that is going to win for sure without any excuse and reason that might put them on the other side.
Rangers are a great team without a doubt and have worked hard to where they ended off the regular season as the top Eastern Conference club. They did not have it easy against eighth seeded Ottawa Senators, as the series was decided in seven games, and are
basically back where they started as they return home to battle it out one final time against Washington.
Here are some reasons why New York Rangers will eliminate Washington Capitals at the Madison Square Garden on Saturday, May 12, 2012:
Home Advantage:
First and foremost, having the home-ice advantage is probably the best thing, especially when it comes down to Game 7, which is why teams fight for position during the final moments of the regular season.
Looking at how this series has played out so far, either team has not really managed to capitalise playing at home, but come Game 7, it just might provide that extra edge that New York needs to seal the deal.
Braden Holtby’s Record
Washington Capitals have one of the best emerging goalies, Braden Holtby, who has really made a difference for them this year and can be said to be the only reason why Washington is where they are today.
But what goes against Holtby is his inability to win consecutive matchups. The reason that Capitals won Game 6 was because Holtby has never lost back-to-back matchups, but he has not won two straight either, which has them on the negative side heading into
Game 7.
Henrik Lundqvist
Washington has a great goalie and New York has Henrik Lundqvist. If Holtby is bound to fail, then Lundqvist will be playing some top notch hockey. The veteran goalie is in his prime years and he cannot get any better than he already is.
Lundqvist has a lot of experience playing under pressure and being a goalie for a team like the New York Rangers, which is part of the job description. He has been nominated for a Vezina Trophy and Hart Trophy for a reason and will eventually lead Rangers
to a Game 7 victory.
